Raleigh carbon frame quality

Seen a cracked Raleigh. Also saw excact same frame labelled as Flanders in an Indian shop.

 

I wonder who buys from who.

 

Is it now a Raleigh or a Flanders?

 

Do both brands source from the same frame builders.

Hoe weet jy die rame was dieselfde of is jou kennersoog goed genoeg om dit waar te neem????? Of het die Flanders raam gese made by Raleigh....mmmmmm????? Kyk maar na die lys hieronder en besluit self!!!!! Flanders is nie daar nie maar soos jy kan sien baie fietse word in Italie gemaak. Daar is nie baie plekke in Italie wat die rame maak nie. Veral jy weet dat jy nou net wil moeilikheid maak.

Raleigh Carbon frames are made by Dedaccia, so its quite possible that

other companies are using the same frames. I know that Kuoto is another

company using a similar frame.

 

The Flanders looks almost identical:

If you look at the karbona website you will see the exact frame know as the "muscle light" or newer "Karbona light". It is a Taiwanese company and word is that traditionally they have built frames for Raleigh, but are now selling under their own name.

I know someone who has a frame like this, it cracked at the bottom bracket and the frame is getting replaced with the newer version.

So you can buy the same frame, and decide if you prefer Raleigh, Flanders or Karbona stickers on it. Sounds like the Ford vs. Mazda cars on sale in SA in the '90s. Im with Oom H on this, the Raleigh colours look the best.

I'm sure if you looked a few other brands you'd find alot more simmilarities. You can be sure that there aren't nearly as many frame bulding companies in Tiawan as there are bicycle brands on the market, whether we're talking about Carbon, Aluminium, Mag. or Steel.   Very very few of the big brands have their frames made domesticaly(where ever that may be). Alltho' some of them do build their own  top shelf frames. You can probably count them on 1 hand.

 

So off to the bike shop and pick a paint job
