Cyclists behaving ...... badly!!!!!!

This may annoy a few but groups of cyclists should be limited in size. It is against the law for cars to travel in convoys without getting permission. It then follows that if cyclists have the rights of cars they have the laws as well and should not travel in large convoys. On a practical level it annoys motorists more and is hugely more dangerous.

I think I am safer on my own for many reasons. When in groups people stop thinking and assume some one else in the group is paying attention' date=' often incerrectly. No one signals and cars have no idea what we are up to. One person catches a light on green and the others rush through on late orange or red to not be left behind. Altogether a recipe for disaster.

I commuted for years and hardly ever got knocked over and when I was the motorist was always very apologetic. Best to avoid it if you can but once run over you should insist on a lift home. Once I did not do this and had to carry my bike from Sandton to Yeoville because I never noticed that my rear wheel had been so bent out of shaped by the impact. Use lots of dramatic hand signals but not aggresivly. Wave, smile, give thumbs up and let people know you are there and what you. Let them know you are a person. A rude sign once got me pulled off my bike in Rivonia road and beaten up by 3 guys, I almost missed happy hour at my local because of it as Munroe drive is tough out the saddle when you have been kicked in the ribs.

Anyway, who says road riding is soft and needs no skills!!!!

Actually that first picture is on a stretch of the N14 that is not a freeway' date=' I used to stay in Ruimsig and travelled the N14 in both directions on a regular basis.

Das is 100% correct on that 1, the freeway on the N14 only starts just after the muldersdrift dip, and going in the direction the pic was taken the freeway ends in the muldersdrift dip, so those cyclists in the first pic are riding legaly (know this cos a few years back we got pulled over by the cops after the dip going 2ward pretoria and politely told where the freeway starts and ends lol) but if you dont believe me then the road signs should tell u the truth if u ask nicely LOL

After following this thread for 25 pages, I decided it is time to make some number plate stickers, gently reminding motorists that there are other types of road users too.

These stickers are intended to go over the Fury Ford sticker on the promotional lip on your number plate. They're subtle, do get noticed (I get comments on mine all the time), and won't make your car look like the one owned by a Sharks-supporting motorbike mechanic that skate-boards for leisure.

The sticker goes here, like this.

They look like this:

I give them away to my customers and students, but if any of you'd like one, I'll let you have two (including postage) for R30-00. That's just about cost price (I'm estimating about R18 postage and Jiffy envelope).

You're welcome to cut off the company logo if you want.

Hendrik, vir jou is hulle gratis. Hoveel wil jy he en wat is jou posadres?

Edit: Yes, I did crib the idea from one of the posts above. Thanks for the inspiration.

I don't think it will work - the font will be too small if you have to fit everything on that size sticker. No one will be able to read anything!
