I was fortunate enough to test ride the VF2 while Ngala 24 was away.

My feedback is purely as a rider so not to technical:

The bike looks better in real life.

It is very stable with a nice suspension action. The angles/geometry on the bike suited me and it will be good for  most types of riding and I found that she was rigid and responsive. I felt confident quicker than on my current ride and more confident on the technical areas as some full sussers tend to be to plush and then you loose the feel.

The suspension is really good  and provides great tracking and bump-absorption even though I did not change settings on the shocks much.

Liked the fact that I could ride it confidently from the start. In all this is a great bike that will not let any rider down.

Hi Guys, here is some of Crows feedback so far. If you have ridden the bike please give us some feedback

"Initial impressions from everybody has been good so far. When I say

initial I mean when first laying eyes on the bike. The blue, red and

white create the impression of a MUCH more expensive bike. Riding

impressions have been good all round. Haven?t had feedback from

mintsauce yet. He rides a Titus Moto Lite so it?ll be interesting to

hear what he has to say.

From my side? I like it! Very much! Set up was easy and I found

that I can run the bike a little softer than STD sag settings as it

pedals good enough. This makes it a bit more plush. I?m not a big fan

of the tires (Conti Mountain King 2.4 Tubelss) so I will try it with

some Nevegals to get a better idea of cornering and traction. Rear tire

is on the worn side as well which might be why the bike feels a bit

skittish.

I like the fact that it comes with a slightly shorter (70mm), than

purely for XC, stem and the wider bar (680mm) is right up my alley. Not

sure how many k?s the bike has on the clock, but the fork can do with

some bedding. I will try and get that sorted in the time it is down

here.

For the price and spec the bike is light which obviously aids when

climbing. Compared to my 15.2kg Morewood Mbuzi it?s a rocket! In single

track the bike feels balanced with a natural feel to it. Haven?t done

anything too technical on it, but will give it a go this weekend.

A non-hubber will demo it Saturday and Alcino on Sunday. Doing a

group ride on Saturday so the bike will most likely change hands on the

go. Was riding with some friends on Sunday and between the four of us

we kept swopping bikes to get a feel for it! Fortunately we all ride

Mediums, are more or less the same height and weigh within 5k?s of each

other! How weird is that! All but the girl who was riding with us of

course.

Will be interesting to hear what Mintsauce has to say..."

Then you are really not gonna like to hear what I did on DH2 on Sunday at the section where...wait a minute...is Ngala reading this as well?

I'm sure it can take the abuse, it seems solid enough.

My lyf en suspension.

Anyway. My huidige bike is 'n 2008 Stumpjumper.

Mal mense!

Sien uit na die "official" review.

I need to go through the exercise of suspension set up as well with my new bike.

Perhaps Crow can post a brief how-to on suspension dialling or even offer practical sessions!

Let me know when you are riding in the Stellenbosch area again.

Will put something together when I have a gap. Prefer doing over tying! Trick is to understand how Compression, rebound, sag, positive and negative air (if you're riding a RS) and tire pressures all influence the final product.

What size bike do you ride mountain lion? Can organize to get together for a demo ride if you'd like. We'll be riding Stellenbosch Saturday...doing a demo with Abroad and Alcino has the bike on Sunday. Maybe Sat afternoon or something like that.
