Jared Surtees Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Weight and looks of the Look Quartz or the Durability of the Shimano SPD's
Iwan Kemp Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 The Looks are just as durable as Shimano. In actual fact my current has lasted longer than any, incl XTR, Shimano pedals I've owned. Less to go wrong.
ASTANA Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 what about eggbeaters , from Crank brothers? Have you not considered them ? Riding shimano's now - very happy, they will last forever and can take knocks all year round. Shimano's just feels bulky and looks heavy. But when clipped in you don't see anything and can ride for hours and be happy. Don't really see a reason to switch to look quarts.. Would prob ride them if I got them with the bike.. ?!
wheelz Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 IMO shimano last very long but the look's are a better feel. they have a lot more float which I prefer to having your foot in 1 position the whole time. Im riding eggbeaters now and they are awsome.wheelz2009-10-08 00:57:49
Cycle Factory Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Shimano has been around since forever so the vote will be a bit lob-sided! Customers who have switched to Look swear by them and will most likely never go back. We haven't had any issues other than the cleats being on the soft side.
Eldron Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I have a pair f Look Quartz pedas for sale - R450 - used of course but in good condition if anyone wants them...I'm a Shimano fan through and through...

philip.maree Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I changed from SPD to Crank Brother Candy's. Should have done this a long time ago!
The_Crow Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Less wear on shoe sole. Feel of pedal closer to Time than SPD's Clip in is more confident (for me)
Jared Surtees Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Does anyone have any problems with the looks uncliping unnessesaryly for example when u are bunny hopping etc?
knersis Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 LOOK on both my MTB's, way cheaper and lighter than XTR.
Mr LOOK Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Does anyone have any problems with the looks uncliping unnessesaryly for example when u are bunny hopping etc? It used to be a problem on the first generation Quartz pedals. All sorted on the second generation range. They're awesome! I recommend you use the 20deg(release angle) cleats when you're a rider who prefers getting a lot of "air time". The 15 deg are for XC racing.
GoLefty!! Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I've not tried the LOOKs but have use the SPD'sformany years. They are superb if dated in design. The Looks are interesting and from what I can see, are more difficult to set up intially. The plastic body of the LOOK may not last as long as the armoured aluminium used for the SPD's. I would stillpick the LOOKs simply because they're a newer design and over better mud performance during engaging the cleat.
Jared Surtees Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Are the 20deg cleats also suitable for xc racing tho?
Jared Surtees Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 What do you guys think of the Exustar E-PM25TI MTB Pedals?? Theyre really light at 95grams a pedal! (We weighed them today) they can use the normal shimano SPD cleats, the bearings felt really smooth and they look really really nice!!! The question is how well do they work?
