If you have to translate and apply yourself the its definitely not worth it. My LBS does fitment for free and that include the use of a computer for optimal measurements.

Even so, nothing beats experience and a well trained eye and ear. Computer programs and fancy measurements is and will always be just a good guideline. From there you need someone who knows what he/she is doing to get you to a happy place.

Hey Terry,

We use the Ergofit system/program for bike fitment in conjunction with a "manual" fitment. Like Crow has said, an online or computer fitment can only be considered a guideline unless you go the Sports Instistute and have a specialist do the fitment and give feedback. The best computer system in the world will not pick on the small err's in your stroke or posture and it certainly cannot factor in previous injuries or deformities. That's why we use a bit of both.

Ergofit is one of the best systems on the market. We start off with that and then finish with a manual check for finer adjustments. At this stage rider feedback becomes vital.

We do all of this for free. Gratis. Niks. Mahala.

EVERY new bike's owner gets a free set-up then another one at his first service interval, but we also do this for none buyers...as long as you are a fellow enthusiast and enjoy a good cup of coffee...or tea. We have some filtered water as well.CFS CT2009-10-08 08:24:36

You are going to sycle 300odd km's in one go!!!  YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PROPER SET_UP!! finish en klaar...else you run the risk of some damage to one or other part of you anatomy which will cost much more to rehabilitate....

Now that that is established....

Dan Grobler (biokineticist - offices pposite Medi Clinic) does a great job. He will first measure & assess...then move onto bike set-up and video tape /measure some more...then he will also presicribe some exercizes if any are required...

probably cheaper than Science Institure..but you'll walk away with a proper set-up and don't have to do another thing except ride..

He picked up (via measurement) that my one leg is 5mm shorter than the other - due to cocsix miss allignment...prescribes a series of stretching excercizes to remedy that....I'm most impressed!!

Whatever you decide...you MUST go for a set-up...

There are presently 16 qualified BG FIT Technicians in SA. They have all been certified by Specialized US by having completed the BG FIT bike fitting course - these are fitters who are qualified in the best fit system available. Nothing is computerised, nothing is formulated, every customer will undergo a comprehensive physical assessment, coupled with a proper evaluation of existing conditions, previous injuries and riding style/experience/objectives. Then the customer will be put through an exhaustive on-bike fit that covers all of the essential elements of the fit. Just like the Saxo Bank and Quick Step teams. And if you can satisfy someone like Bjarne Riis then you know you're not selling lemons.

But as mentioned before - we spend the money on the equipment then skimp on the important stuff. Simply put, a proper fit will ensure maximum comfort, increased power and prevent repetitive-stress injuries developing.

My bike was set up by LBS.

I suffered with chronic ITB. Did the whole medical/physio route.

Got Arran Brown's name off the Hub and went to him as a last resort before surgery. He made minor adjustments to my setup and I have never had a problem again. Big%20smile

It was the best R350 I have spent on my bike.

He is totally professional and I would not hesitate to recomend him.Clap
