One more thing... tandems!

I don't know why, but we seemed to be in the tandem section of the field. There were dozens of them.

Going up hills you pass these guys because they slow to a crawl. Then the next down hill (with twice your inertia) they come past you at 600 miles per hour screaming "HOLD!!!" Only to be overtaken again at the next incline. And the process repeats itself. <img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley24.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Ermm" />

I'd like to know how many of them crashed yesterday.

That having been said, if you can get in their slipstream on the downhills you do go a lot faster.

I past a tandem on a hill...

Heard the guy say: "oh no, oh no" The just heard a mighty clunk and crash and shattering!" think the lady took a hard hit"

But didn't see any crashes. (happy to report)

LOUSY RACE - LOUSY SEEDING - INCOMPETENT NEWBIES OR CYCLISTS THAT DON'T GIVE WAY TO FASTER RIDERS -

not the rest of joburgs problem if you didn't go through the trouble to get a seeding dude. The point of a race like this is somewhere where all the newbies can come and enjoy a day in the saddle.

did you expect 25000 riders to know the code and ethics and rules associated with bunch riding... sorry to say, but this time the blame is on you.

give credit where it's due, its a great race considering the number that they need to cater for. awesome vibe and great safety with the complete road closures. love it every year

I rode 20km to the start from Diepsloot and was greatly cheered by all the waterpoints along the way.. They thought I was the leader. hahaha.

Other than that had a great race but will try and get a seeding for next year cause there were no bunches to ride in starting in CC but ended with a 3h20 and a 20km ride home..

Went out on my dikwiel with my 2.2 knobblies!

Didn't have an awesome completion time, but enjoyed the tequila and jaeger stands ,along with a beer stop!

Must say, I loved hunting the roadies on the N14, so if you spotted a guy with a bright orange and black camel bak on a Merida, that was I.

well done to all!
