truth about cranks

Ok so there are some specials running on XT cranksets.

 

Now, what is the real difference between a 770 XT crankset and the 775 XT cranksets.

 

Are the 775's that much better than the 770's?

 

Also can one compare the race face deuce to the 770's or should one compare to the 775's?

 

any advice will be appreciated.

I've just bought SLX and Chris has a deal like this on XT's, read the reviews though, they seem to say that the SLX are a better deal.

Can't find anything on the FC M775 cranks.

there is no such thing as FC M775 cranks...the 775 denotes the disc brake components in the groupset whereas the 770 denotes most of the groupset as well as the V-brake parts.

 

The difference in 760 (old XT) to 770 (new XT) in the cranks is 7grams according to the catalogues I have...

Apart from weight newer versions' blades have a longer life. I've also been running SLX cranks and I don't thnik one needs more than that apart from maybe the weight savings.
