I have always supported these guys, because what they do for the mountain bike community in south africa is absolutely brilliant. I have often gone to the volunteer trail-building days and done some of their races...but they seem have a serious lack of organization when it comes to the papers.

I rode the 1st WP provincial on 28th of june, and on the same morning decided to become a member and i bought my CSA license through them. I sent proof of payment, photo everything...and now, on  the 30th of november I am still waiting for my membership pack and my CSA license to be paid for...which most probably expires at the end of the year. I pretty much paid for nothing..absolutely nothing.

this is not what i would have expected from one of the most well known mtb organizations/clubs in the country. just thought i'd let you know..

Hi Nicholas,

My sincerest apologies for you not having received your membership pack yet, I was hoping to receive your licence so that I could send it at the same time.  I will send your membership pack today and make it valid for 1 year from today.

Your licence was processed in June on the My Race system (the CSA system that handles licencing) but it would not allow me to enter your MTB disciplines and I e-mailed My Race a couple of times and have still not had an answer.  I again sent an e-mail this morning and the moment I receive a response I will send you an e-mail (I do realise that this is futile).

There has been a problem with licencing this year, CSA is trying to sort this problem out and we are hoping that it will be better in 2010.

Thank you very much for your support of Amarider and trail building!

In future if you have a problem please mail me directly at info@amarider.co.za

Kind regards,

Nicolene

Not quite. On The Hub we will however give you grieve, drama, couple of laughs, advice, advice on a q you didn't ask, randomness, offer you smarties for a bike you're trying to sell and then some.

You will love it!

Nic,

Its also a good idea to pick up the phone and call Nicolene or Arina driectly to sort problems out.

CSA Licensing is bit of a cycling jokes at the moment whether you belong to a club, a PPA or another affiliate of CSA.

A bit painful to see AMA Rider get dragged through the mud of the CSA licensing disaster.  I've been here 2 years and never actually recieved the license (tried/paid both years) - fortunately the # and an old USAC license seems do the trick.

hello everybody,

firstly, and an error on my part, i dont think the little red icon is accurately portarying my thoughts on the matter, I am not angry with AMA Rider or any people invovled with the assosiation and i dont want to offend anybody because it is not in my nature, in AMA Riders nature or the nature of our sport as a whole. In fact, i have a great deal of respect for everybody over there, they are always friendly, encouraging and continuously try and spread the sport of mountain biking around SA. That said, i do feel some frustration, but nothing that i cant get over.

then secondly, with regard to GoLefty!!'s comment, I absolutley agree with that and accept that i should have picked up the phone as this is what i have always done. I have actually ridden at the delvera trail centre twice since the race in june but i never got round to sorting this out. I had no idea that matric would impact so much on my riding and my social life, and i just could seem to find the time for anything that wasnt part of school, but i also acknowledge that i shouldn't be making exuses...but i also should have a licence and 'other' in my possession.

and finally, Thanks very much to you Nicolene and for your friendly, insightful and helpful reply. I have heard via the grapevine that there are huge problems within CSA relating to the licencing system and that it remains incredibly inefficient. Like i said, this is not what i would have expected from such a well known association, but i also cant (and shouldn't) blame you or AMA Rider for the problems that arose, especially since other "parties" were involved. I would also like to apologise because i dont think i started on the right note, but as we all no frustrations can sometimes get the better of us.

once again, thanks for the help, i wrote my last exam today and am now ready to welcome the world. i now finally have time to sort out these issues, collect old prize money and do all the races that i missed because of matric. You will definately see my face on delvera and all other trails in the near future.

Kind regards,

Nic

No worries Nic, it just a good life lesson; face to face resolution of anything beats the officious hands on the rule book approach, especially when both parties want a positive outcome. That will not always be the case in life as there are many people in the world who believe that screwing people over is the only way. I would hate to see a youngster like yourself take that path.

If all other avenues are exhausted then the public approach is validated.

Thanks for showing great depth of character. You're already ahead of the curve. Aim to keep it that way.

Remember this: In any situation there is the facts and then there is the truth. They are not necessarily the same and don't always serve the same outcome.

Hey Nic,

No worries!

I have sent your membership pack, please let me know once you receive it.  I am still waiting on a response from My Race and as I said I will let you know the moment I hear from them.

Congratulations and welcome to the grown-up world and good luck with whatever you decide to do with your future!

For EVERYBODY I loaded a CSA information document on the dirtopia website (www.dirtopia.co.za) which explains licencing for 2010.

And thanks everyone for the faith and kind words!

P.S. And as for the 'many advantages' to be gained from the interactions on the hub, you guys have me totally sold....

Thanks very much to you all, Nicolene, GoLefty and others for your helpful and understanding words. We live and we learn, and i will definatley aim to "ride the singletrack less ridden" if you know what i mean Wink...this is why i do this sport.

Nicolene, i will be sure to let you know was soon as i receive the pack, i trust that you somehow you know my surname and contact details, please contact me if there is anything you are unsure about.

i hope you all have a good holiday, think we all need a break. I'm off to plett rage on friday, with the bike on the back! just so that i remain sane amongst the drunks. enjoy guys, before we know it, its back at the desk.
