PPA : STEVE HAYWARD... Is jy dof !!!

""Hayward said the association had been booking Tuesday evenings at Killarney race track for cyclists to train off the roads."""

Hi Pop's

I also heard that on the radio.

I thought this was a private thingy or does the PPA organise the "racing" as opposed to training?

I think he is talking about that Gerhard Genis training ride (1 hour around the circuit)

The point is, that he is telling motorist, "Dont worry, cyclist have a place to ride""

I am not quite au fait with what Steve said. But you know what? In the real world people live, they love and they die. That, my friends are common knowledge. However, the difference comes in where we, the general public, the govement, or for that matter, any controlling body comes in. Whether it be athletics (sic), rugby (?) or cricket(?), the question arises, do we make a difference as to the quality, the prominence or the integrity of the sport. We have seen over the years that the staying power, the will, the enthusiasm lacks in our sport. WE simply don't have people representing our sport with the love and determination that it so dearly needs! It is for that reason that we quite often find private individuals trying to say something, trying to stand up for our case - unfortunately without a podium!

agree popeye, the comments did not come across as supportive of cyclists.

Truth of the matter is cyclists are road users too and therfore have every right not to be crushed under 1500kg of unroadworthy steel.

the general lawlessness of SA drivers is legendary  and the new mayor does nto seem to have the heart to want to keep her promises to cyclists.

Guest colonel

Maybe they should have a cocktail function and discuss this further?

  • 2 weeks later...

And some hubbers on another thread where trying to convince me why my PPA membership is important and I should still continue with it.

Might as well sign up with ANCYL and support another rambling idiot.
