Okay spoke to they guys there and both of the managers and it just bad luck and they won't replace this. Apparently these are like really good light weight XC tyres and the way they thread it is to make it lighter but isn't very strong. Still think this is crazy those tyres weren't cheap and now the one after 2 rides is good enough to throw away?

Look, I obviously can't speak for the backup service of the LBS or Maxxis, but I've used the same tyres for 6 months with absolutely no issues.

My advice is to have a look and see if there is any evidence of a cut from a rock, bottle etc or if it looks like the tyre just came apart. If the former then it really is bad luck, unfortunately no manufacturer will cover damage to the tyre. If however it is the latter then I would make my case to the LBS. I think we as consumers accept their excuses far too readily.

25-30 it says on the tyre min tyre pressure is 35 and max 65 so I just put 60 in so it nice and hard.

And you are still alive to tell the tale? LOL

Out of curiousity, which shop did you take it to?

PM me if you'd rather not say the name in public.

60 Psi?

Gimme a drink! Anything!

You are joking, right?

I pump a 2.25 (tubeless) tire 2 Bar at the back and the front one 1.7. That is less than half your pressures. Admitted, this is for XC. I seem to see less "wet spots" from sealant on the tires, thus less puncture prone than with high pressures. I think the casing of the tire gives way rather than resist and get damaged.

Yup, I run mine at 60PSI too - but I do weigh 92kg. I've also tried them at lower pressure and my sweat spot is 50-60PSI.

Personally these are crap tyres for the trails I've access to. After seeing my ass in a mega wipe out at a wet Oak Valley a few weeks back I realised that its time for an upgrade.

I'm just waiting to wear down my slicks and then I'll put these on for commuting - wife will not let me spend a cent more on my tyres as she comments that there is still much tread left on the ones I already got LOL
