Mavic Crosstrail 2010 vs Fulcrum Red Metal 3

I'm looking for a decent tubeless wheelset. I've narrowed it down to these 2 options. They are both exactly the same weight (1815g), look pretty sweet and have good reviews. The Mavics are R600 more expensive on CRC.

What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the red metals. Or am I overlooking some other options?

Have a look at the hope hoops, great value there. Pro 2 hubs, dt revolutions, brass nipples and ztr olympics. They'll beat the price, quality and fixability of boutique wheelsets hands down.

What about a XT hub, Mavic 317 or 717 rim with Revo or Competition spokes? These should be around the same weight.

I did not like the free hub of the pair of Mavic wheels I had.

I have a set of "custom" wheels sitting in my wish list on CRC; Pro II hubs, SunRingle EQ21 rims with DTSwiss Revolution spokes...Sitting around R2770. But after looking at those Hope Hoops...WOW, for about R180 more I can get ZTR 355 rims....To me it's almost a no-brainer! Although it would be nice to have the Hope Hoops but with a red hub....

I had a 717 with Comp spokes and XT hubs build by CRC and it cost me less then 2k (part of a free shipping order). Okay they are not 100% tubeless but they are tough at just over 1800gr.

Yeah, I saw the Stans 355s. These are not tubeless however and so I would have to spend extra cash on a stupid conversion kit (which would also add a bit of weight). Why is everyone against factory built wheels?

The ZTR Olympics are tubeless but they don't seem to be on the CRC option list?

Get a set of Mavic 819 with XT hubs. The rims are tubeless ready and bombproof.
