Heart Rate reading "met 'n knippie sout"

I am on the verge of buying me a HR monitor.

 

 

 

Did some research and reading.

 

Interesting point:

 

 

 

Heart Rate readings can be affected by not only work rate. Also by:

 

 

 

1/ Fatique level;

 

2/ Altitude;

 

3/ Current Emotions / Tension

 

4/ Hydration levels

 

 

 

So, me thinking... take that HR reading with a pinch of salt. Not only effort level / zone training level affects the result.

Hr moniter is lekker to have when you out alone on the road or trail at least you have something to read and see how it keeps changing makes the ride just so much more interesting I feel

HR is always going to be a sub clinical reading but it does give you a pretty good idea of whats happening with your body

HR with GPS, ala Polar, Garmin etc... are the future

 

Or you could go ALL the way complicated and get power thingy with HR and GPS

 

Personally I prefer not to see how weak i am so I'll skip the power thingy, i mean who wants to see a measley 300W average...my old 1980 Honda MT5 was more impressive.
