Hi,

I would like some comment on which of these 2 computers to buy, almost bought the S725X yesterday but wasnt completely convinced. I currently have a CS200 CAD (older one) and am a roadie...

Out of experience, which one would you buy and why?

I bought S725X 2 weeks ago. I'm very happy with it. I also use it for running and gym. Mr Price Sport had one left @ R3600 (including cad)

Only problem I have with my 725X is that I get spikes with my speed reading. The other day I did 108km/h on a flat road into the wind.WinkBig%20smile It also is intermittant, not always at same place (power cables, etc causing it)

. Checked battery, installation, etc. Otherwise a brilliant piece of kit, lots of "extras" that a person can use if you want to go for information overload.

get a garmin 705 far user friendly and easy to use !!!

Is it better than both the above mentioned computers?

Was thinking of the 705, will go and have a look..

How do you intend to use it and what do you want to do?

If you're going to use it for running or other activities off the bike, then the S725X or RS800 would be a better choice.

The Edge 705 is great if you want the GPS features and ANT+ compatibility. You could even go for the Edge 500 if want plain GPS recording instead of navigation.

Hi Edman

I am only going to use it for cycling, not a runner and almost all of the riding will be done on road. I dont see the need for a GPS device as I use my phone to do my tracking if and when required, dont want to use the GPS on every ride, whether it be training or racing.

Im leaning towards the CS600 smiley5.gif

Of the Polars, the CS600 does look like it would be a better bet.

I would still consider the Edge 500 as it looks like it's in the same price range as the Polar.

The 500 has most of the Polar's features in addition to a larger, customisable display and ANT+ support if you ever want to start using a power meter. It also has much more storage space.

You lose out on the Polar-specific features such as OwnIndex and Fitness Test. The battery life of the 500 will be shorter (but it's rechargeable) and, if the 705 is any example, it will take a few firmware updates before most of the niggling bugs are ironed out.
