Covie,

Thanks for the compliment he was only 12 months at the time of the photo and is now a 55kg lovable brute.smiley1.gif

As for the race I'm with you on the fun aspect and it is really great to see that Avianto are trying to facillitate MTbiking in the Cradle area and it would be sad if their efforts are thwarted by a low turn outCry. Hence, I'm hoping that other MTbikers will also get behind this to support the race and not ignore it because it is a new and unkown event.

Anyone else prepared to get behind this?

Rant and Rave, all deception, egos, lies, one-sided stories - But how about the 'Truth'.

I have been requested to lay-off the cyclists, WHY?

The facts:

Mark Thijs posted this topic.

- A one sided story has been posted by him,

- He was part of a rumor campaign about Cradle residents planning a blockade,

- He initiated a lawyer?s letter, and rolled it out to apply to all Cradle residents,

- He names Residents from our area by name and by business and implicates them in this one sided story

- He exaggerates,

- Makes no attempt to resolves issues, only adds fuel to the fire

- Apologises that he won?t make proposed meetings,

- Watches from the side line, will not intervene to keep the process civil, decent and propagate common respect.

- Will not discipline his cronies, when totally out of hand.

Mark, Bruce, Andrew and Gang, are you proud of yourselves when referring to the Cradle residents as:

Wankers

prick

Skietepiete

childish

asshole

primitive

baboons

idiots

vigilantes

stupid

fascists

culprits

killers

murderers

****

fools

cowards

Pluss

Tossers

Obsessive- compulsive, and using phrases like

Slap Ken

Reemed by Bubba

AK47 up your ring

Glock in your face

see you in jail, whilst you threaten to

Boycott businesses.

From the onset, I and other cradle residents requested Decency and Respect. This fell on deaf ears. So we gave you and your cronies just a little bit of the same treatment, now you call for the thread to be ended, request us to give it up, close the topic, deactivate our account etc. WHY? For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. What ever you got from 1 Cradle Resident, me Mr Ples, you obviously can not handle. Any comments posted by me were in response to some pathetic cyclist?s opinion ? DON?T FORGET YOU STARTED ? PERIOD.

The Cradle Residents wish to engage with the responsible Cyclists, who wish to resolve issues in a constructive manner. Our tolerance is running out!

Residents in the Cradle have been assaulted, insulted, generally speaking you crap in our bush, litter the area, pee on the road side, use in appropiate sign language, ride more than 3 abreast, break the rules of the road and admit it. My personal feeling is you and others are suffering from a ?guilt conscience? and posted this topic as a diversion tactic. You have entered the Cradle Area, violated it, then I launch a little missile and I get requested by personal emails and calls to stop the onslaught. ? DON?T FORGET YOU STARTED ? PERIOD.

To Cradle Residents: Postpone this meeting, lets get all the Residents Associations, Conservancy, Estates, Farmers Unions, Business, CPF?s, FPA?s, Disaster Management, Conserv, other interested and affected parties from the COHWHS and surrounds together. We exhibit the facts and the figures as above, previous minute, and elect reps. We then engage with Government and it?s agencies, and when ready we meet with reps from Organised Cycling.

To Responsible Cyclists and Organised Cyclist Groups: Lets see as a staring point, your commitment to the process by disciplining these renegades on this forum.

Mark THIJS, irrespective of the incident, that is between you and the other road user, you choose to bring it to this forum and remember - YOU STARTED ? PERIOD.

Yours Truly

Trevor

Didnt know julius malema had cyclists as followers! Okes are aggresive jong. Come to Dundee and ride on our farm for free, just behave please. Seems like eveyone there needs to come to the platteland more often to chill. Even the cradle residents. PRIDE AND ARROGANCE.... How about replacing that with LOVE AND FAITH.......?Wink

I am with helpmekaar, how about cradle residends agree to be nice to cyclists visiting their home, cyclists be attentative to the residends, people can get along business will prosper, and if you get one prick hooting and giving you the finger, its not his fault his daddy played with him in inapropriatly and he got bullied in school. Ignore it and go on with your ride, enjoy the magic.

Residends if you see a cyclist in your way, its not the end of the world slow down a tad, quickly and gently pop the hooter so he can get out of your way, and give him/her/them a smile and a wave, you will still get to your destination.

Why do we have to be so damn aggresive in this country.

Hey Helpmekaar & Covie, there are some good suggestions in your posts. Unfortunately the name calling detracts from it and I believe that this is Trevor's main point in his post although your comments are rather mild compared to some of the emotion laden posts I have seen on this thread.

Covie's main point is extremely important we cannot control the actions of others but we can control our own and that is where I believe that we should do everything possible to support those residents and businesses that wish to engage with cyclists. We should do this by supporting the Avianto and any other event in the Cradle, not only by participating in the event but also by engaging positively with residents and motorists regardless of provocation.

Further, read Trevor's post carefully and you will note that even he wants to engage with us positively. It is just a pity that one has to sift through some of his emotions to find it.

Rob, thats exactly my point, people allow their emotions to take control over them and then start acting self righteous. Love and faith for each other will always overshadow pride and arrogance, very much like the light shining into the darkness. Question is, who is going to submit first, who will apolagise first, who will take responsibility. We live in a broken world, start fixing it. Who`s going to be corageous enough to take the first step? I dont live anywhere near the area in question but one thing i can tell you is that no lawyer or `policeman` or tollgate will fix this problem!

Maybe the time has come to get together with Trevor and start fixing this thing.

By the way, love your ridgebacks, also have two on the farm. Cheers

Craig, I agree with you. Unfortunately, I cannot claim to represent any significant part of the cycling community otherwise I would gladly engage with Trevor.

I have noted that there are some clubs who have some initiatives to try and repair the damage and we should support them. But in the meantime as you say let's control our own emotions.

Any ridgeback on a farm must be a happy ridgie mine keeps my wife and I fit by insisting on a daily run of no less than 5kms!

Strangely I can understand how that could happen and my wife would most likely agree! River Rat2010-05-03 05:17:22
