Hey guys just noticed a bubble on the thread of a recently purchased Vittoria CR tubbie.

Could this be from hitting something hard in the road or from over inflating the tyre?

Would think it is not safe to ride with anymore?

I locked my rear wheel at walking pace. Immediately after I noticed something bumpy at the rear. I checked the tyre and noticed a large bubble. Luckily I turned back because 100m from my house the tyre exploded with a massive bang. It was a Vittoria too, but a clincher. After my experience, make sure you keep an eye on it or take it to a bike shop for a check.

The bubble was much bigger than yours.Eugene2010-01-16 07:45:59

I had one of these on my mtb the other day (tubeless)

Minutes later it was a huge ballon so I quickly deflated the tire so it wouldnt explode.

The problem is, once the rubber starts pulling off the tire (the cloth bit) its only a matter of time before a bit section peels off.

The bigger question is though, why does this happen?

I have heard that some people moan that some seleants (ammonia based maybe) might make this happen.

?
