Zula frame = R16500 plus waiting list the length of your arm. But I believe awesome reviews

Spaz = good and very popular in Gauting but frame will go for pretty penny, their brain shock not as reliable as the Fox RP

Anthem frame = R10,000 - R11,000 riden one for over 25,000km and still to colapse under me. Service pivot bearings every year. Don't take one with Manitou back shock - pay the price for a Fox RP

Anthem X frame = R13,000 - R15,000 not sure, mine is year old already

Don't, and I mean don't, get caught up by the talk of comparing Opel with BMW crap certain guys will through at you.

I disagree, I've been on my Spaz for 18months, did Sani last year etc and still waiting for the brain to "blow up" Its the same as anything if you look after it it will last.

Having said that rather look at the Stumpjumper comp, it's a much nicer bike to ride, especially for long distance.

Thanks.

Anthem it will be, all those people at the various races surely cant be wrong.

Funny you mention the brain. I did ask the guy about it, he said, it was problematic in the begining, replaced twice, but now its good.

I cant spend all that money, for a faulty thing.

I would like something to work outa the box.

That my friend...is where you can go wrong!!

If everyone rides red bikes (because red ones are faster than blue ones, didn't you know?) will you also buy a red one?

I'm not knocking the Anthem - but do soem homework to find the right bike FOR YOU!! Never mind what others use....they can all be wrong...

I def think that the Anthem is better value for money!!

I have had two anthem and been very happy.

However, I have never ridden another full sus, so cant objectively compare.

Good Luck

Looked at a merida 96 today.

Any views??, it looks bloody nice,

Its the white one.

Also looked at the Trek, with Abp

But still when i sit on the Anthem,it feels like my road bike, ix this wrong, the steering also feels lighter than the rest..

Ey man,now im very confused hey, seems like each shop is biased towards there brand.

Lots of tech bulldust floaying around. DW links, Horst links, Virtual pivots, single pivots, Maestro the more popular ones. This one being more sensitive to small bums and that one less/no bobbing. Ride a few bikes. Buy the one you like and want to (not can) afford. Most new XC full suspension bikes are probably within 5% of each other if you look at "performance".

I like the Anthem

Spaz makes good bikes

Merida is good.

I ride a Santa Cruz.

I ride a Merida 96, my buddy has one and another friend is also about to buy one for Sani2Sea. We considered various options. I am very happy with the Merida and would buy one any day.

But I agree - most of the bikes in that bracket are good. Go with what you want to buy.

I did a few training rides during Dec with a few guys on Anthems. What I noticed is that on the open road with the back shock"on" you can see the movement up and down of the "seat" (slight bobbing effect). Same conditions with the Merida 96 3000 = dead stable. I am so glad I made the choice to go for Merida after my heart was set on the new Anthem. The Merida has a much simpler mechanism at the back which is working for me. my 2c's

If you are looking for a toyota(popular, reliable) = Merida, Giant (Nothing wrong!!!)

If you are looking for an expensive toyoyta = Spes

Something exotic = Volcan, Comencal

Pure class and handbuilt quality = Morewood, Ellsworth

(I might get flamed nowWink)
