Firstly this test is not to slate any products, it has been done to advise you on your next possible purchase with giving you a local perspective. My findings are just that, my findings. The people present with the test will concure.

Lights on test with Pricing

BrighterLights Solo 620 R3700 (BL)

Magicshine R1400 (MS)

AyUp Double Lightset R3999 (AU)

Pricing gets less the more units you buy from all suppliers

Quality

The BL and AU have the best alround quality. The MS is let down by its battery and cheap quality pouch but it works although is not so waterproof.

Technology

The BL wins hands down as it is over engineered, it can be programmed for higher outputs or longer runtimes. The AU follows second with the MS last.

Warranties

BL = 2yrs

MS = 3 months

AU = 10yrs

Please if I have this wrong correct me.

Runtimes on high

BL = 6hrs

MS = 3hrs

AU = 3hrs to 6hrs depending on battery used

Test 2 BL

Test 3 AU with only 1 light (Comes 2 in a set)

Test 4 AU with one light on head and other on bars

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t169/rad006/AU2H.jpg

Test 5 AU with both lights on bars

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t169/rad006/AU2B.jpg

My camera was set on auto with no flash and was the same for all Beamshots

Verdict

The MS won hands down with brightness and price although quality can be a factor as its a cheap Chinese knockoff. The BL is a very well engineered light although it is bulky compared to the others but can be upgradable as future technology improves. The AU was the most compact and simplist to use. The split light feature works great to give you a bigger beam. The mountings supplied work well but takes time to setup compared to the other 2.

So if money is a factor and you dont mind quality MS is the way to go. If you want something that will last forever go BL. If you want the simplist probably most versatile with an excellent warranty go AyUp.

Any Questions???

Special Thanks

Must go to Sean, William and Dave (Their Real Names) for lending me the lights to do this test before I purchase any of them myself. A thankyou to Johannes for all the insight into his product and to Brad for putting me into contact with Sean.

Forgot my Driver WesleyLOL

The light im buying

Is none from above!!! Just joking. Ive always bought cheap but when it comes to this purchase, I have the resources to go expensive. I want to do this purchase once so, my heart tells me AU but im lucky enough to have a friend that said if we both take a MS now and I dont like mine in a month he will buy it back from me and I can go buy my AyUps.

Nice one Rad. The neighbours must of thought you were having a rave at your houseLOL

The price diferential is huge between the MS and others, so it's a no brainer IMO. You can buy 2 for the price of the others. Good luck and let us know the results of a longer test period.

Thanks Mackie

Well thats the thing. I like AyUp due to the 2 light system over the BL. But if I can get 2 MS for even cheaper it will be even greater light and I can work on fixing the quality issues maybe?

We did the Test at Seans house and then on my way home we stopped to compare the AU and the MS in a trail enviroment of sorts...

Its scary how good the MS light spread is for the price.... Its just a quality issue...hmmm

Was the "shootout" done at your place S ?

You enjoying the Juicy Carbons ?

Comparing tests 1,2 & 3, I actually think that the BL & AU beams are a lot more focussed than that of MS. The MS has a lot more spill than the others.

However, for a more accurate result, you'd have to compare tests 1, 2 & 4 and in my opinion test 4 which is the AU wins hands down because of the combination of focussed beam and side spill.

Rad, you might want to add the type, size and durability of batteries as this is probably the bit that affects the price the most.

AU is very compact although not sure how waterproof it is. I wouldn't want to spill any water near the MS battery while the BL has a Li-Pol in a waterbottle.

The MS won hands down over the light but as Rad says the quality is a little down, but nothing you cant improve on, its a simple system that just works.

The AU has 2 lights one which is narrow and the other is a wider hence the better light.

But if u ask me the MS with its spill is awesome... I will be adding to this test if possible a riding video to compare

yeah just to add to what Rad said the Ay Up we used had two different types of lens, 1 wide beam and 1 narrow thats why the combination is so good. the cool thing is you can order he combinations as you like and you dont have to just buy a conventional set of lights, last thing you can choose the colour of the housing so say wide beam blue and narrow red or whatever. no confusion.

Yebo to both questions.

Just have a warped rotor at the rear which I need to sort out.

BL + AU use Li-Pol batteries

MS uses a lithium ion battery

The BL has a smaller head but I think with the battery being in the bottle is more bulking...

The MS battery isnt waterproof so needs to be redesigned..

The AU are just brilliant!!!
