K so i wanna buy some race kings.

1.Will they fit my rim - I currently run 1.95 kendas

2.Will it fit under my fork legs arch. reason im asking is that they look like they have quite a big sidewall or it possibly could be that it might be an optical illusion Confused

3.What does 2.2 indicate on the tyre - Is that the profile of the tyre

I need your help plz, plz plz

The 2.2 stand for the same as the 1.9 on your Kendas. It's the width of the tyre. Some manufactures measure the nobbies and other the casing. 2.2 Speed Kings will easily fit you rim and under your fork arch. I use a 2.2 Mountain King up front who's knobbies are way bigger the Race Kings and I do not have any problems.

Yeah, they will fit no problem. You will actually find them narrower than similar size Kenda's. In other words 2.2 Conti will be same width as 1.95 Kenda

2.2 or 2.35 or 1.85 or whatever indicates tyre width

Hey, I just upgraded my tires too!

Kenda Karma front (R440), Maxxis Crossmark (R535) back (both tubeless)

sorry one more question but this is just for interests sake

what type of mileage can i expect out of of my race kings

How long is a peice of string? Depends on how hamfisted you are with your brakes, you could ride over a sharp rock/glass on their 1st ride out and destroy them...I've had my race king for 18months with no hassles

too true about the accidental occurances that happen, but that was the answer i was looking for. Im speaking metaphorically & in an ideal world.

18 months is more than good enough for me

I just wasnt sure on the compound of tyre, soft or hard. Good wearing or not.

Nah they are very well wearing, one of my clients has had a mountain king on his rear wheel for +-2yrs and just replaced it now that its totally bald...

Race Kings are a softer compound and quicker wearing than say a Crossmark. As Techguy says its a bit of a lottery - I destroyed a Race King in one ride, a rock cut the sidewall, but others get good mileage.

I have had both tyres and I can assure you the Conti 2.2 is fatter than the Karma 1.95.

In my humble opinion, the Karma 1.95s are too narrow and soft for proper MTB racing. They are more of a weight weenie tyre. I'd recommend spending a bit more money and getting the fatter Karmas.

The Race Kings are awesome. Strong and fast rolling. You won't be sorry.

I did 3k km on them between Karkloof 2009 and Attakwas this year. changed them for new ones for the Barberton (thread was still good for dry events). Awesome rubber.
