29ers or 26er ? That is the question.......

To all the MTB funatics out there,

I recently rode a 29er for the first time at the Ride b4 you buy in tokai. (afterwards i am seriously considering buying one)Clap

I was amazed at the smoothness and amazing handling this bike had over a fairly ruff terrain.

the question for all who knows better than me out there is........

will 29ers be the way for the future? It would sux if they would fade away after a few years and tyres/slicks (other parts) are not available anymore.

Is the rolling resistance more or less on a 29er (felt to me like it rolled better than a 26er)

Is it a sales Gimmick???

I think this time they are here to stay . Had my first spin on one last week and all you said are true ! Took it over a rocky uphill and was surprised at how easily it rolled over everything . Steering was also lights and fast !!

The steering feels lighter, they handle phenominal around high speed sweeps and they dont feel any of the small obstacles that would normally through u around on a 26er.

Are there any road (slicks) available for these bikes on the market?

Ai ai ai the Hub Ueber Scientists are gonna have your asses for those 'feels'' date=' 'easier', 'smoother' statements Wink[/quote']

But he is right - and Mighty Mouse says it will make you 'technically' better as it rolls over obstacles easier and he is right too. see this link http://www.bicycling.co.za/static/gift_offer22/

Just buy it and be done with it. This lot will leave your head spinning for no reason.

Only problem i had is mine rolled up on to a bottle and then the bottle broke and my tyre went pffffffft. My 26" would have simply spat the bottle away or me on the floor. (I know i should have gone round the bottle but there was a parked car on one side and a hedge on the other - I had no choice)
