Sani2c training

Myself and my partner are training for our first sani2c, doing the adventure, was wondering about the effectiveness of our training.  Currently we are doing a 4 - 41/2hour on saturdays and sundays, and then a 2 - 21/2hour on a monday and wednesday.  I would like to do one long road bike ride on the weekend, is there any point in this, or should it all be on the mountain?

Jason I have done 3 Sani's.

Its great the time you getting in. Better thatn most guys out there. I ride power on a trainer. 1.5 hr 4 days a week and 3 hr and hr 2 hr on the weekends.

My best advice is to climb...especially your second ride on your second day. Coming out of Umkomaas is hot and steep, although we have a new route this year its still going to be tough.

also doing my 1st. Had an ok base but have now stepped it up. Ride wed/frid 1 1/2 hours usually off road or mountain bike on road. Tues/thurs either ride or do a boxing class. We did a hectic 2 day training ride in dullstroom on the weekend. Sat was 120km (7 1/2 hours), mud and crazy hills. Sun only 80km but included a 12km road climb. Will try to get in both a sat and sun ride of atleast 3 hours. more than that is tuff time and family wise. my legs are still tired but the training will hopefully pay off.

Its all about time in the saddle as much as you can whenever you can, and then just hope for the best because it could be hot, cold, wet, dry but its all good. Cant wait roll on SANI

That's more than I am doing for joBerg2C and more than I have done for any of my 5 sani's and 1 non stop sani.

Relax, your training is great, provided you are averaging more than 10k/hr off and 20 on road
