OK. So here is a topical one.  Which is better?  Hatching offspring? Or new bikes and unlimited racing?

Why I ask is because this time last year, I stood looking out of my spare room window (which overlooks a neighbours garden) and lusted after the Carbon Tri Felt, with full Dura Ace, and Zipp 404 Tubs.

Back to present time and all I can see is a wierd calmshell kiddies plastic pool.

ConfusedSO this is the truth of "The Brat." It cometh in the night and stealeth all dads toys.

Sure it is great to have kids (I've been told) but in this country I do not see much of a future. If you can not give them private education and know that they will make it past university. I think they will have a tough time.

Thats politics man. That is only of small importance.  What is of more importance is... What is more important?  Hatching a DNA that matches your own?  Or on the other hand  - New bikes and unlimited racing?  (And remember, one of the toys "The Brat" will steal is your wife/girlfriend, aka the body, soon to aka "Mommy!" firewolf2010-02-04 07:14:17

Yup , keep it real for as long as posible. Live life there are plenty of time later for kids and all that stuff.

General life rules 2010 VS 1980's.

Way back people married very young 22-24ish , had kids early in life, and had  lots of time to spend with their kid while they as parents are still young, still they lived (and still live) till very old 85+

Today's parents - marry alot later - 28-32 ish (ok some still marry early, but thats a dif story all together) , they then live life to the fullest for a long time before settling down with kids and the more serious stuff , problem is then its game over - average age before passing away also came down alot in the region of 70.

Like your career is a choice you made way back , the same goes for marriage. Either you choose to live and do stuff or get married and have children and live a more conservative life, settle down and get serious into the family building business.

The other problem I find is this : Once you have you first child , then you have to have the next one in 3-4 years time (if you want more than one), otherwise you'll be raising children for the rest of your life.

if your lucky you hit triplets first time around - work your ass off and bam - your sorted with a full family setup once-off. its harder on the wallet, but gives you more time for yourself in 8 years time, instead of raising baby number 2 and 3 from scratch.

Ok I'm bored at work... LOL

I have a 22 year old daughter and a 3 year old bike.

Let you know when the bike gets catches up to her age.

Please. Lets us not get sidetracked here.  It realy is a very simply question.  What has more value?  A child; oh such a romantic term. Or a full f**king carbon, dura ace, zipp tubbed and race ready dream machine?

I can confirm that a 16 month old son can suck up nearly all of your available free time. But here's hoping he's now/soon old enough to accept babysitters, which means I can go on a Pay as You Ride Scheme.
