That makes alot of sense. So if I am sitting on the piece between my bum and wee willy winky does this mean that I need to move the seat forward or backward?

It's called the taint.

'Cause taint balls and taint arse either.

Showoff smarty-pants people also refer to it as the perineum.

At a guess you would prolly need to move your saddle forward.

I stand by my earlier comment that a saddle replacement may be in order. On one of my bikes I had a saddle that I could never get comfortable on' date=' numb nuts were a regular occurrence and no matter what I did and how I set the saddle up, I was forever having to push myself back on the saddle. A new saddle sorted the problem.

Your mileage may vary. [/quote']

Agree, had same problem, tried a couple of saddles, and the one that works for me is the trusty Fizik Arione.

Dude' date=' if you are still riding the original Raleigh saddle that came with that bike I am 99.9% sure that is the problem.

However as stated here bad quality bibs and even brand new bibs which have not been ridden in yet will cause this.

A quick solution to the prob is when going downhill move to the back of the bunch freewheel and alternately remove your feet from the pedals, shake them around a bit to get the blood flowing and it should make your ride a little more comfy.[/quote']

Yes, I am using the original raleigh saddle.

So what is the opinion on the cape storm bibs, any good?

Saddles for me are pretty simple.

Well you obviously 1st need to make sure that your saddle is correct height and that your knee is in the correct position over the pedal at the correct point. If this is correct then you will probably need to move the seat forward until you are on your sitting bones toward the rear of the saddle. Like in the oval selle san marco points in the figure below. Make sure there is a gap where that vein through to your penis.20100222_053142_Alie_Kenzer_Ric.jpg

This particular saddle points slightly up as it is spoon shaped to relieve pressure in the mid region.

If you do move your seat or replace it be sure to recheck your fore/aft and seat to BB length. Also, make sure you keep in mind to sit in the position on the saddle that you set it up to as you will naturally want to move forward to the old position. Keep thinking, move back, move back, move back whilst you ride or else you will end up having numb nuts and sore knees.

Cape storm bibs are fine - some good reviews here.

Try a harder saddle, oddly enough the harder the better although there is a bit of discomfort until the saddle is ridden in and your ass hardens up they normally provide a far more comfy ride than the padded ones.

Be sure your bike setup is perfect, but I am pretty confident that you will notice a vast improvement in the feeling of your batteries once you ditch that Raleigh Saddle.

Cape Storm are bad quality if you ask me. I have ahd 5 pairs and all of then have perished, either back or front. I only wash then with water and still they perish after a few months. Also, the stitching always comes loose either in the "zipp" region or on the thigh cuffs. Rather buy somethng else even though you may pay slightly more. I am not sure if 1st ascent use same imported material, but if they do stay away from them as well.

My first bike was the RC3000 and I still use it on the IDT. The original saddle is not good! On my other bikes I have the Selle Italia SLR saddles. Never had a problem. Still occasionally have problems on the RC3000 saddle.

In my opinion try a Selle Italia SLR. Or at least get a hard saddle.

Okay, I'll be that guy... the one that says one saddle is not for all and the Arione is not the answer to all of life's problems. A lot of my friends ride it, I can't.

Rode it for a year, then went even worse! Went for the highly advised, esp if you're not an Arione-azzed person, Specilised Toupe. On day one I thought it's bad, but hey, this will get better... I was wrong! I tried everything and every ride after 30 k's it would feel like I was grinding glass.

Stumbled across a Selle Italia SLR - can't remember exact model (XP?) - and my azz was in heaven ever since. Perfect - for me!

So if I were you, go to a bike shop that's willing to lend you some saddles and try them.... What works for a lot of people may not work for you. And these plastic saddles - if they feel crap on ride 1, odds are it won't get better!
