Cape Argus organisation anti-climax

Hi,

I went into my first Argus with high expectations. The finish appeared to be an anti climax. People milling around, some not knowing where to get their medals

Certainly no atmosphere at the finish. Maybe it's my imagination, but I expected more crowd support along the road

The finish is a bit hamstrung by the fact that the area around the stadium is still being tidied up. It will prolly be a lot better next year, and I expect that we will have the use of the stadium as we did with the old one.

More crowd support? Did you finish before sunrise? Apart from Smits to Scarborough and most of Chappies it felt like there were people lining the whole course.

My first Argus today too and I was blown away (haha) by the support. Everyone I've spoken to who's ridden before kept telling me how amazing the support is every year. They weren't kidding!

It is sometimes very difficult to make intelligent observations when your blood sugar levels are low. We have done seven Cycletours and never have we experienced what you did.

Maybe tomorrow when you can think straight again the memories will flood back!!!!!!!!

Support was great along the route; much better than last year (I guess the supporters got blown away).

Finnish lost its atmosphere when it was moved from Maiden's Cove to Greenpoint years ago, but due to the number of cyclist there was just no choice.

I am sure the finish area will be much better next year when all the construction work around the stadium is done.

I enjoyed the support along the route. That's what makes the Argus for me. Being a supporter last year motivated me to return to cycling after 20 years. Even got the wife interested. She completed her first Argus today and can't wait to return to the dirty side.

My first Argus. It was well organized for such a huge event.Excellent crowd support at suikerbossie and everywhere along the road.Very scenic road.Alot of work has gone into this.I have seen a lot of smaller races where there was total havoc. It was good and clean and cyclists well behave.Things like this makes one come back the following year.Well done to all the organizers.Good spirit everywhere.was in the M group.See again next year.

... can't wait to return to the dirty side.

Ditto!!

If I can get a Sani2C entry for next year, will do that instead of Argus.

Sounds like it is worth travelling all the way from the Cape for that.

There was huge support on route compared to the last few years. People were there to see Lance and Darryl.

I think the support gets better every year, this year for the first time my family and friends came to support. The only place were I never saw crowds of people was coming through the Camps Bay area, but that was expected, other than that the smell of bacon and eggs and boerewors rolls was all over.

"Revisited" the route and the vibe IS incredible - it is just that most people miss it if they are racing hard...  We were offered food, drink, massage, encouragement, etc

Lance did bring more people onto the route, but I thought that there would have been far more. But standing for hours in the pomping south easter isnt much fun. I think we should thank those that did get out to support.
