halolite H1 mining light ? has anyone got

i found these guys on the web, based in rustenburg.

Has anyone tried there lights? I know it is a mining light but looks good, they state for what it is worth 6000lux.

 

Is this any good for cycling?

Battery looks A tad big and heavy to have bumping around on your waste... while MTB - could hurt............

just phoned them charger is R252 excl vat.

 

So guess it is quite pricy. if you add all together.

R700 excl Vat is not too bad. Reckon it must be better built than some of the others for sale here if it is used in mining. 6000lux is about 550 lumens? If its accurate its in the same ball park as the others and the wight is not too heavy.

the battery is about double the size of the others on here, but as they state it provides more than 12 hours of life. Strap is to the top tube and i think you will be set for a night race and maybe a 24hr on on charge.

I remember when I worked on the mines years ago, had to carry around a brick of a battery, but they always had good light and I was never left in the dark with a mining lamp! These new ones look good, just could be a problem mounting the lamp?

i saw a guy at LBS, he made a small alu mount and a base plate and mounted it on there. and takes an elastic band to keep in position.

I have one of these, did one 24 hour and then  built my own light.

 

You can get the 100 and 120 lumen LED versions (H2). Battery life is great, the build quality is awesome & very rugged, and it is truly waterproof. You can easily zip tie the battery pack somewhere safe.

 

The downside is that there is very little spill on the beam, it gives you a bright small spot. And then 120 lm is not quite enough for me ( my home built is 375-400lm which I think is adequate for my speed level).

 

All in all, the H1/2 is a great all-purpose torch for when load shedding hits. As a cycling light, rather look elsewhere depending on budget. Having said all that, my one mate is still happy with his as a cycling light so horses for courses.

Got something very similar. Very bright light but its more of a tight angled beam. It is also fairly heavy. I made a charger for it out of an old cellphone charger. You just need the center piece off the charger, looks like a key. The battery lasts ages and fits nicely into an alloy bottle cage.
