New Madone

Anybody seen the new Madone? It is absolutely awesome.

 

I also saw tonight that Cyclelab has sponsored one as a prize in a TDF competition.

I've seen it in the flesh. These are my thoughts:

 

 

 

I like:

 

 

 

- Sloping top tube

 

- new BB design

 

- new headset/headtube design

 

- internal cable housing

 

 

 

 

 

Dislike:

 

 

 

- Plastic, bad-quality saddle (although I understand that most people change their saddle anyway, they could have at least provided something decent that you could talk your LBS into swapping for something else.).

 

- Fat top tube.

 

- The seat clamp is bulky and looks out of place halfway up the seat post.

 

- Bontrager cranks - this is another cost-saving initiative of Trek's. The Bontrager cranks are much uglier than Dura Ace. They should have kept the groupset complete.

 

- Too much of the bike seems to be copied from other bikes. For example, the seat stays are very Giant-like and the top tube is similar to Scott's.
