To the cyclists who rode down Jean Avenue...

There were 3 cyclists riding along Jean Avenue in Centurion at about 6:40 am this morning. They had red flickering lights at the back but their clothes were not reflective or light-coloured and they didn't appear to have any lights at the front.

I stopped in the left lane at a traffic light and as I pulled away they cut in front of me from the middle of the two lanes.  The last guy was riding a Cervelo and put up a hand to thank me for letting them cut across.

If you're reading this and it was your group, please note that you were not visible at all when you came from behind me and I was lucky to not hit into one of you. I think you guys should wear something reflective and bright lights at the front so that you are clearly visible at all times.

I was going easy on them Daemon. Smile I didn't call them idiots or try drive them into the gutter or hoot at them etc.

I wrote this post to try and let them know that they aren't as visible as they probably think they are. I'm sure we've all done some silly things out on the road and at least the last guy in the group had the decency to apologise with a wave.

front lights are more important than the back ones. the flickering white light is very effective. motorists find it difficult to judge the speed of oncoming cyclists in broad daylight so i would assume it is event n=more difficult for them in the dark.
