Im gonna take heat for this but I think spinning at any VA sucks and its better to do something at home on your IT. You get a better work out I personally think. PPL spin cause they cant cycle and wanna join some clicky group.

So lay on the abuse Im ready but that my opinion of spinning.

I agree....thats the majority, but for someone like me who has flown down to Cape Town for a month and have nnot biek here, nor do i ahve my trainer here, this is the only training that I can do.

Also it is sometimes the only way one can get their training in during winter when they work late.......but there are quite a few cyclists that do spin....but thanks for your opinion.....the question was "what do you think of the instructors?"  not what do you think of spinning ;)

anyways, people shoudl always feel free to post any comment that a thread generates.....i like it!!

Saffa,

I've only recently tried the spinning thing, also at Tygervalley VA.

Did 3 diffirent classes at 3 diffirent instructors, don't ask me names though.

1 Class was supposed to be a "power" class, and a complete waste of time i though. Their definition of power training is to see how long you can spin in a heavy resistance standing up??

The 2 other classes weren't to bad.

Although i tend to agree with Colonel. I find going out on my MTB for a hour offroad after work to be better than a spin class.

Well, then there's the ladies...

To train or to perv, that is the question?  ;-)

I have to agree and disagree with you.

 <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

There are some instructors that are there just for the money and know very little about cycling.

But there are those that are quite good riders and informed cyclists that can give you a lot of help.

Speak to you VA, they have little cards at the front desk fill it in and see if it improve, if the members don?t complain they will never know about the problem.

Fandacious: True you have a very good point but put a re-run of Girls of the playboy Mansion in and you set.

Saffa G: True you have a point and a very good one at that!! If I were you I would go and take a bike at the back of the class and do your own thing also when you at the back you can see all of Fandacious' lycra chicks!

The reason I dont like them is cause at the VA I was a member of many moons ago there was this old hag of an instructor who always said "give me some more" all the faaarken time and when things got hard she got off and pretended to see if ppl are ok and walked around and got back on when things were easy again. I was like WTF?? I had a word with her and got up and left about 25min into the class and never returned. As for the people in the class that is another story.

C50 i must agree.....i do prefer that real riding is 100% better than spinning....i just wanted to get a feel about the level of the instructors here in the Wester Cape VA that i have spun at whilst i was on my business trip, honestly riding on a real bike is the deal!!

But come on guys you know we can all TRAIN and perve at the same time!!  hehehe.....i reckon when the ladies fill in the spinning book they should ahve to put their butt photos next to their names....so that us dudes can position ourselves behind the most "suitable" candidate....purely for professional reasons...you know...draughting etc (oops....this is spinning) hehehehe

No chance of a smoothie with one of them afterwards tho Wink

Look - I use spinning as a last resort. If for whatever reason (weather is crappy, didnt have time during the day, feel like picking up a spinning babe, etc) then i'll go spinning. Its not even CLOSE to real cycling, but it beats couch surfing...

It definitely makes for good "entertainment value" i thought.

From the absolutely serious/professional spinner types to the not-so-serious ones...

I agree Fandy ClapClapClapClapClap not that I want a spinning babe tho....my girl wouldn't like that and i love her too much....plus she spins too, so there wouldn't space in the car on the way home

To come back to your question Saffa. Like i said, only been to 3 classes there with 3 diffirent instructors. Of the 3 instructors i thought 2 could actually do with a little more spinning themselves. The one dude/class was decent, but then i don't have any spinning "experience".

Ahh yes that would be problematic. But then again - you already have a spinning babe Wink So no need to trade her just yet

Went to Thursday's 17:30 class at VA Cape Gate and had a very good class, the instructor actually has a road bike too which makes a difference.  None of this up down, up down spinning at 250 rpm k@k!! Le Tour2007-07-23 07:20:11
