Trail Snail Posted May 29, 2010 Share Been to 2 LBS and they can't even agree!! One says you are not allowed to remove gears and insert specers - leaving 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 gears, rather upgrade the whole system to a 10sp and pay a whack of money. The other says, remove the bottom 3 gears - grind the fourth and reset the RD to the gear limit - cost R250. There is virtually no info on the CSA Website that I can find, and everyone has their own ideas. I have already replaced the 53T chainring with a 52T. I hope that this resolves the whole situation!!Trail Snail2010-05-29 10:04:
DMC007 Posted May 29, 2010 Share I found the same with LBS....they dont know much about Jnr. League racing let alone the gear ratios they use. Its simple...my son (U/14) uses 9spd, we removed 4 gears leaving him with 17, 19, 21, 23 and 25. spacers was inserted and the RD was adjusted - R100. The 52 blade should not have (Tiagra - new) been more than R250.Result_52/
Trail Snail Posted May 30, 2010 Share Looks like Cycling is far cheaper in the WC than KZN!! Cost of Tiagra 52 Blade = R310Cost of Gearing change = R250Total Cost = R560 Or are the LBS's ripping us off??
