  1. I have had my Edge 500 for about two years now. Good battery life, easy to read display, customisable menu pages, heart rate, Cadence, speed, vertical climbing, elapsed time - all the info I need, and more! Only issue is with printing profiles from Garmin Connect. Great little GPS Tracking device!!
  2. I always believe in the KISS Principle - Keep It Simple - Stupid. Cheap but effective....and we are not financing a corrupt system...
  3. I recently has a problem with a rear shock 3-days before an event. Most of the LBS's insisted that the shock be sent away for service and would take beween 7 - 10 days to return. I then found Good 2 Go, based in Pinetown. They serviced the shock, the bike and did an exceptional job, all in the same day. The quality of their work is good, owner operated by Mark and Jason - very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them to all and sundry Contact Info: GOOD 2 GO: Tel: 0317018152, or Mobile: 0824589704
  4. I found that riding with stronger ridersI was taxing my body. After the ride I would download the HRM info and find that for the 150 min rife I was averaging 90-95% of max HRR. I have decided to rather train on an indoor trainer until I reach a better base fitness.
  5. Hi JanMTB I bought the Rudy Project Swifty Frames with the prescription insert. Honestly, when you put the insert in, it isj ust not the same as wearing normal glasses. I have been back to the opticians on a number of occasions for additional "fittings" westill haven't got it right yet. Looking at the cost of the Frames with photochromatic lenses and the presciption inserts being in the region of R3000, halfof what it will cost your father - he needs to make sure of the vision and the fit. Once the lenses are ordered, if they are not right, the optician will not give you your money back. My adviseis to get the optician togive you a money back guarantee which they are loathe to do. Good luck and Merry X-Mas Trail Snail
  6. My philospohy- Eat what you want, when you want it. This stops the craving. Just make sure your training caters for the additional kilojoules. Eat, drink and be merry!! Train, long and hard!!
  7. If you are happy with the 305, why bother trading in for another watch. If it aint broken - don't fix it. I had 2x Forerunner 50's that both gave up the ghost 2 months out of warranty, this model had been discontinued and hadno choice but to upgrade at a substantial increase in cost.
  8. I didn't reaise that you download and print the licence instead of waiting for it in the mail, until I read this thread. Thanx Guys Trail Snail
  9. Glad no one was seriously injured. And people wonder why the law is taken into their own hands and vigilantes are abundant! Unfortunately they throw the book at those that defend themselves! Honestly, what is country coming to??
  10. Looks like Cycling is far cheaper in the WC than KZN!! Cost of Tiagra 52 Blade = R310 Cost of Gearing change = R250 Total Cost = R560 Or are the LBS's ripping us off??
  11. Been to 2 LBS and they can't even agree!! One says you are not allowed to remove gears and insert specers - leaving 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 gears, rather upgrade the whole system to a 10sp and pay a whack of money. The other says, remove the bottom 3 gears - grind the fourth and reset the RD to the gear limit - cost R250. There is virtually no info on the CSA Website that I can find, and everyone has their own ideas. I have already replaced the 53T chainring with a 52T. I hope that this resolves the whole situation!!Trail Snail2010-05-29 10:04:11
  12. His bike has the Ultegra 53/39 Compact cranks - so I suppose that will be the first thing to be changed.
  13. The power that be never seem to make it easy do they? Will check out the link - Thanx
  14. Now I'm getting confused again, the commisaire link referred to the roll out length of 6.626m, not 6.262m, which fell within the confines of the 53F. Is the 53F deemed illegal for this age group - compeletely?
  15. He has a 53 F and would be restricted to 17b - would appear to be correct. I will confirm at LBS. Thanx Guys
