As much as I'm loathe to admit it - I am brave enough to say that aesthetics/looks of a bike maintain a high premium in any decision I make... A close second is the actual working of the bike - i.e. does it so what its supposed to do, and does it do it well.... Which means that if two bikes of similar ride and design were given as options, but one was say - a Merida, I'd take the other one... I don't know why - they are good bikes, but I've never like Merida's. Or rather, I've only ever liked a few Merida's...Their square tubing and paintwork - not for me. That being said - I have always rated Specialised bikes. And the Epic is a real beauty in particular.Don't even get me started on the S-Works.... But, I also have an aching for Commencal.Really sweet-looking bikes.But then the list starts to go on and on....Giant - for some or other reason - just doesn't always float my boat.Raleigh sometimes does. But one thing that I have realised, is that there are a simply stupid amount of bikes out there, that many have never even heard of, nevermind seen, in South Africa. I regularly page through WhatMountainbike and Dirt - and there really are some fantastic rigs out there...Which will be expensive - but I'm convinced, oh so worthwhile... So I guess, in short - this is something I'm not going to rush into.Which is why these debates are always so good - keeps me well-informed... Keep stirring, and keep 'em coming! Dibles Posted July 27, 2007 Share D-R, at that stage Scott had a WSD as did Specialized and Trek but I didn't like their specs or colours etc. With the SC I got to choose from 13 different coloured frames plus I got the componentry I wanted AND the ride is awesome.
