brad890 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 hi guys i'm thinking of upgrading my mounting bike when the new 2011 bikes come in, as NONE of the suppliers have bikes in XL left, have tried them all lol, so will just have to stick it out on my GT avalanche for now, i'm not sure if i should get a good spec hardtail or i silghtly less spec soft tail, here are pics of the bikes i've listed above. and if you maybe suggest something else i havent looked at please let me know, i have about 15,000 to spend on a bike. which is why i was thinking of maybe some of the less expensive bikes with a polar RS800CX bike. i dont know which is why i'm asking you guys what you think. here is the HFS100Dand here is the silverback seirraand here is the 120 TFS 700Dhere is the giant trance X4 and lastly bu not least the Giant XTC 3brad8902010-06-07 10:16:58

brad890 Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 well just by looking at that picture i'd say that bike costs about R50,000 if not more? or am i completely wrong Kieran
Ha Ha Kieran Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Nope Frame weights in at 1100g in size medium. Hoping to have these landed here at under R15k for the frame Not sure what your budget is, but just posting a little porn Also fully hand made in Italy
brad890 Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 well, i'd really like to own one of those one day when i win the lotto lol, but for the moment i've only got 15k for a whole bike, cant exactly do a race running the route with a frame on my shoulder lol
Ha Ha Kieran Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 well' date=' i'd really like to own one of those one day when i win the lotto lol, but for the moment i've only got 15k for a whole bike, cant exactly do a race running the route with a frame on my shoulder lol[/quote'] Very valid point! That is the top-end. have a squizz on www.bottecchia.com and see if any of the aluminium frame scatch your eye. Will try confirm prices this week with Bottecchia
Pom1 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Try importing a Scott Spark 35 from Slane cycleshttp://www.slanecycles.com/scott-spark-35-bike-2009-p-1993.html it will be at least R5000 cheaper than any LBS in ZA, you will have to take the risk regarding warranty (but Slane will honour this albiet in Ireland).
brad890 Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 hi Pom1 i would love to do that, but the spark 35 would be a bit out of my price range, after vat an import duties would cost me about 24,000 only have 15,000. taken a look at their other bikes and not really that much of a price difference once you've added 14% vat and 15% duties to that of LBS.
Pom1 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes/specs.html?b=1794 Try these guys they cut out the "Middle Men" and sell direct to the public at Gr8 prices all over the world!

brad890 Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 wow they have some really nice bikes, but unfortunitally what i'd be able to afford from them wouldn't be so great once adding on all the costs, they charge 400 euro just to post the bike to S.A
