Heckler:

Single Pivot

140 - 160mm

Cheaper trail / AM hooligan

Similar: Morewood Shova

Nomad

VPP

160mm (but some guys run 180mm

More sophisticated suspension thus better control and better pedaling platform

Similar: Ibis Mojo HD, Transition Covert

I'd go for the Nomad.

Shova every time! Not much in it, though.

On the plus side for the Shova:

  1. Morewood is local and back-up and support is excellent
  2. Morewood's Powder-coating is harder wearing than SC's. SC have been battling to sort quality issues out on their PC frames for years. They say they have it sorted now, but only time will tell. I've yet to see a Morewood with PC pealing, fading or scratch for nothing.
  3. Bearings last forever (SC claim latest models have this sorted, backed up by some international reviews)
  4. It's LOCAL!

Weight, travel and geo is very similar...go with the SHOVA

I think you should be aiming at something like the Blur LT rather than a nomad If youre not really looking to do to much on the Downhills. A blur lt, IBIS mojo, Heckler Unless you get the Nomad carbon..mm.. now thats a thang of natural beauty..
