Gianni, thanks that is my point exactly. Even Bianchi moved over here. Most people don't know these things! It is all about quality control!! And not about where the frame is made- nothing to do with the country!

here is where many "manufacturers" are starting to battle. Quality is a difficult thing. Even Polar's HRM chestbands have experienced a drop nin quality since they started being made in china. As we have seen in the last few days many toy manufacturers have had to recall their products due to quality issues.

problem with manufacturing is that they want more and more cheaper and cheaper, so they try and get as most out of everybody. And with that excellent population in China, if you don't work your @ss off, they just replace you. So whos gonna bother about quality when you're constantly pressured to build 5 bikes/hour.

There I blame the manufacturers quality "controlers" or inspectors. Most bike brands here have their own quality controlers who don't just come every now and then to the factories, they stay here in taiwan, permanently. Ensuring continious qua;ity control.

Taiwan used to be like China. Cheap but bad quality. Then as more and more manufacturing came in the skills grew the quality improved.

Taiwan will move on to being a knowledge economy and

China will replace it as the main quality manufacturing center in the next few years.

Eventually they too will have more money per capita and the workers will not want to do menial jobs for next to no pay.....who will be the next China ????

History repeats itslef.

China - their economy is growing so fast, they can't keep up. Read in Reader's Digest a month /2 ago. they wanna pay people to stay outside on the farms. Also , attended a Business/IT alignment seminar a couple of weeks ago. http://www.itweb.co.za/events/businessitalignment/  contains a talk from Nick Binedell about this. Very interesting. They have such a WORK etiquette, and RSA(or Africa) for that matter, wanna compete. Firstly, as soon as you buy a Chinese product, you put money into the Chinaman's hands. In 13 years the ANC could'nt figure that out, if ever.

The second phase has been achieved this week when the newly refurbished PE warehouse opened 30 bike building bays complete with air tools' date=' Pedro's Rock Stands and high-end tools. Each operator can build 40 bikes a day giving us an output from PE of 1200 bikes a day. [/quote']

Raleigh in PE are already churning out a bike every 12 minutes . I think that's pretty impressive. I have 3 Raleighs and none of them have ever let me down regarding build quality.

Based on current defects e.g. tainted dog food additives' date=' toxic toys etc  i would not trust any thing from China.
