hi all hubbers..

i would just like to know what needs to be changed to make my bike a 10sp, i know the cassette, would the rear derailer also have to be changed?

Why the rear derailleur guys? Surely the movement it makes is the same for all cassettes and the high and low adjustments are the same as you pretty much have the same 'width' cluster but with 1 extra gear? Also the biggest and smallest gear on the cluster is still the same size? The STI's will make sure it 'only' moves the necessary amount to change for 10sp (fractions less than for 9sp?).

I would go with cassette, STI's and chain. In fact will be doing exactly that on Little Ben's bike soon and we'll see!

Bigben once you have done please let me know if it works, it does sound logical, the range of movement will be the same.

Sure! Just waiting for the left STI to arrive (long story!) and we'll test. Have the cassette and chain already!

BTW - we are using an old 8sp 105 RD on 9sp TT shifters on my son's TT bike and it works fine, hence my logic!

I think the old deraileurs could still be configured to change both the 8 and 9 speed cassettes, but I don't think they can be made to shift 10 clicks even though the casette width is the same. Let us know what happens...

Scotty isn't the rear derailer I got from you a 10 spd derailer? I'm using it on 9spd and it work fine.
