Hey. I mapped some singletarck in Jonkershoek last month. PM me email address and i'll send u jpeg photo of where it is. The are 2 singletracks leading off the main loop which are open- Taeda and Patula, and then the canary path is also open and someone built a nice new downhill track which is really fast.

or check out Dan's website or search member Iride here on the hub. He does all the maps with google. B)

Regarding the downhill section, just watch out. We rode down there this weekend and a tree fell across the track right before the second big dropoff. So just watch out for it. You gonna have to do some bundu bashing to get around it. Now I wonder how long it's gonna take them to clear it out of the way... maybe 3 months or so...

If anyone wants a trail map of Jonkershoek you candownload ours here. It's quite up to date but doesn't show that the neverending story/masons trail/Elliotti is mostly unridable at the moment.

Thnx! I forwarded the Tokai map and Jonkershoek map toe a few friends.

So you bundu bashed all around the fallen tree? Why did you not remove it? :o

Just to confirm that Neverending story should be avoided as a lot of dead trees have blown over and are blocking the trail.

The Canary trails are in super condition at the moment after the rain.

Pretty inconsiderate dude!! Who's them? Do you think there are peeps out there getting rich from this? I'd like to meet one of them...

Do the right thing and every now and then volunteer to do some track maintenance! It's a great way to meet new like minded friends...and helps keeping overheads down and in the end resulting in affordable trail fees...

Most of these trails are just being kept decent through dedicated volunteers.... If it wasn't for them you would not be able to enjoy yourself...

Sheesh boet, take a deep breath before you get a heart attack. I agree with what your saying, but I also get cheesed off when I pay my R25 entrence fee every Sunday and then find that the tracks are not maintained at all for months on end. Where is this R25 going? Is the forestry services not supposed to use it to maintain the trails? Just asking.

It was a tree boet, not a twig. ;)

You clearly did not watch enough MacGuyver when you were young, did you?

Remove your crank and use the chainrings as a saw, boet!

Hie hie... :D :D maybe if I just ride fast enough over the tree I'll generate enough friction to cut it in half? En as k@kpraat 'n siekte was...

Jonkers might be the exception...but I think the tracks & their upkeep are private concerns....Your R25 is for enterance into a nature concervancy area....that's why a wildcard will also be accepetd (so, not for MTB activiites per se)

Ja, so what i'm getting at is....enjoy the ride but also keep in mind that some poor volunteer is probabaly going to help maintain the tracks - not nature concervation & not foresty etc etc.

That's why privately owned tracks will mostly be kept in better condition that "niemandsland" where no one wants to atke responsibility.
