Hi all.

I’m planning a trip from Centurion to Durban, all for charity(Children homes to be specific. We’ll be visiting children homes in each town that’s on the route).

It’s going to be a group of 10-15 riders, 7 days of riding and approximately 740km.

It’s my first time planning a trip like this. Can you guys please provide me with some tips in planning a trip like this. I’ve participated in such an event but never organized it thus any tips will do.

Thanks

Haha... I’ve noticed this weird stuff with 4 wheels but didn’t know what they was. Thanks for clearing it up. Still prefer using my bicycle though. They say it keeps me fit and healthy and its great fun. :D

In 1997 we did a similar trip from Pretoria to Richardsbay to collect funds for our student church. two guys went on the route before the time, through all the klein dorpies and arranged with churches etc for us to stay over. Ours was 900km, amazing.

Other than that I cant offer real advice, except for good luck!

Omlette,

It took us about a week and a half if i remember correctly. We were about 25 guys and 11 girls or something. You had the option of not riding all day, but then you had to drive the back-up vehicle with the bike trailer etc etc. We even had a bike mechanic as well. He was sponsored by sheesss...Wheels of Zoran..an LBS in Pta at that time.

Was one of the most amazing trips I did. we came back about two weeks before my First Jock Cycle tour, veerrryyyyyy good preparation. I then rode a Nishiki Hardrock of all things.

Are you looking for riders or just some advice?

I have done a few tours like that. Would be willing to help in any way

At the moment we are only in the planning phase of the project and that’s also the reason I am asking for advise at the moment. At a later stage we might need some riders but I will certainly post it on the tread. Thanks for the offer.

Genade ou, hoe ganit?

Think you are the RudoJ that once whiped out just before the stop in Pongola, I think ?

After that tour, I stopped cycling for a couple of years, then started again, then got quite serious for a couple of years.

(I only reat & post on the Hub in the evenings)

Yes PRO-beerder, watch out for Pongola!

It was a long day in the saddle and we were so close top our overnight stay. The conentration was nowhere, I went into a turn like those guys from Superbikes, pulled the FRONT brake for some reason and my bike gently moved out under me...must have been so funny for the rest of the guys.
