Any MTB routes in and around Bonnievale

Hello all,

 

Will be spending the weekend with mates at a guesthouse about 7km outside Bonnievale.

They're very much into 'Hengel', or is it 'Visvang' - which amounts to them standing along the side of the riverbank for several hours talking about the one that got away...

 

Despite their numerous attempts, I remain a disciple of the dark (muddy) side - and want to know if it will be worth my while to take my bike along?

 

Any Hubbers been out those parts?

went there for a wedding earlier this year so did the same enquiries as you.

 

not much in terms of open access (I organises races, so sometimes get to 'explore' on private property).

 

if you're looking for dirt - either ride to macgregor and back

or maybe put a bit of a 'wine farm route together', the lady at the bonnievale tourism was helpful.

 

but best option is probably to drive to montagu,

There was the "Bonnievale Bonanza MTB Funride 42km" in 2006. I don't know if parts of the route was on private land or not:

Hello Nathrix - thanks, I picked that up on Garmin Connect - but given that it was a race, I generally avoid since I assume some/most of it to have been on closed property...

Thanks Shebeen - will look at giving Tourism a buzz - but guess easiest would be to phone the guesthouse farm owners: "Jy wil wat doen? Met 'n fiets??? Neeeeee man!"
