Again, more than 7 reviews...

I will clarify: Dumonde Tech Bio Green - 1 review

Green Oil Lube - 3 reviews

And so the list goes on. I do not say that 7 is the number to look at for any statistical meaning, but the original post does say for 7 reviews.

then again I normally use squirt, and the lube gurus here will shoot me down before we start. so rather ship it to JB and see what he thinks.

After reading some of the reviews and seeing what they compared it to (not Q20) I am impressed. Maybe I will try it out and see if it works.

Not saying its a bad lube by any measure carbon, just saying its an opinionated poll and not subjective to anything scientific or quantifiable.

Might even try it myself. But I am all for independent experts testing products and telling me what their findings are.

People are opinionated, and companies choke on their own marketing bull.

The fact of the matter is that there can not be any better testing for lube than real world application. I understand what you are saying, but don't you aggree that if the people who used this lube are happy and if you believe the statemens they made about the lube, that it would be worth trying it out and make your own opinionated review? I am yet to discover a lube that will last a muddy marathon, so I will give it a try and give some feedback.

Can not agree more, I pay way more attention to real world testers and their opinions than to called 'experts' when it comes to consumables. Bike testing is different, because most people have a relatively small reference when it comes to expensive bikes, but most go through a few bottles of lube per year.

I also dont think people that use Q20 as a lube, will make an effort to post reviews on websites targeted at serious mtbikers.

I have sent a few bottles to hubbers doing multi day stage races in return for a write up here.

Anyone doing a multi day stage race, please PM for some lube. Only price is a write up of the product after the race. Please send me your name, race number and the name of the race you will be doing and i will sort you out.

Sorry, but consumer reviews are rotten, for a number of reasons.

The product may be great, or it may be lousy, but stop and think about what you get when you look at online consumer reviews:

1. Many of the people on there are reviewing something that they have bought. That gives them a strong incentive to be happy about it, after all they parted with their hard-earned to get it.

2. Some of the people on there have an axe to grind. Either they were poorly treated in the store they bought from, perhaps they have a pathological hatred of the company's product, or some other reason (perhaps "reason") to p!ss all over the product.

3. Are these people qualified to carry out a review at all. What are they comparing the product with?

4. What kind of test protocol was observed?

Consumer reviews may give some rough idea of how a product performs, but they are far from the best way to find out how good a product really is.

And finally...we're talking chain lube here folks. For one thing it seems to be more like religion than, well, religion the way Hubbers argue about it. For another, it's geezly chain lube. The very worst chain lube won't cause your bike to disintegrate, and the very best chain lube won't get Angelina Jolie to give you a blow job. All chain lubes will lube your chain. Some will smell nice, some will be sticky and gloopy. If you don't like a chain lube, give the rest of the bottle away and try another. If the chain lube you're buying is so expensive that you don't feel you can laugh it off after one use, then you're spending too much on chain lube!
