I suggest you contact the blokes on the Garmin forum at GARMAP

Choose the Forum tab at the bottom of the page, and post your question there.

One of their members should be able to help you out in no time.

Have you tried a different USB slot?

Just asking since some of my USB stuff only work when they're plugged into a certain slot.

Maybe he is doing it wrong? Where should he be plugging his stick in?

No, safemode doesnt help anything, windows update says there's a garmin root hub update available but even that doesnt install. It's windows 7 64 bit btw. It's a bit late now, need to get sleep for tomorrows race. Will try the garmap forum afterwards thanks.

They are useless, bunch of old ballies that has a standard response to anything "It cant be done"!

Try https://forums.garmin.com/

I am still not sure what OS you are using and what programs are not picking up the device?

32 or 64 bit system? Seriously, I know it will be painful to do, but do the whole download and installation Once using IE.

I had issues with MapSource but the rest like Training Center and SportTracks worked.

Then it became apparent that the new .FIT files of the 500 and 800 range doesnt work with all the old programs.

I think that's your problem - there is a major problem of 'legacy' driver support with 64-bit Windows, you will find it wont 'see' a lot of older hardware.

Nope - I am using 64 bit without issues.

Carrot, please do tell which programs are not picking up your unit (other than windows?)

Training Center

Mapsource

Garmin Connect

Sports Track

Endomondo

Sporty Pal

Or none of them?

No none of the programs picks it up, windows drivers are up to date, motherboard

drivers are up to date. I've tried deleting everything remotely close to "garmin"

and "grmn" and still nothing works. None of the drivers work, not even if i try

and force the device to use the grmnusb.inf driver file (which even windows identifies

as the Garmin driver) it's supposed to use.
