There were 3 Cyclists in an bunch of 7 that ended up in hospital due to a drunk driver driving into the bunch.

CyclingSA want statistics and Carte Blanche will give us media exposure if we can show that cyclists being injured by motorists are a daily occurrance.

Well, if they go into the newspapers they'll find quite a lot.

On wednesday last week a cyclist was riding from Franschoek to Stellenbosch when a tractor pulling a trailor overtook him and hit him off his bicycle, he escaped death with a fair amount of bruizing and a few roasties, but his bike was totalled.

There should be a lot of stories on the Hub if you do a search you will find plenty of instances, for myself I have not had the experience yet! Have a friend who was knocked over by a truck going up Hans strydom from Lynwood road. Lucky not seriously hurt.

Let's hope, if it gets that far, Carte Blanche does a better job of telling both sides of the story than they did with the USN/Biogen/supplements debacle - I would hate to tune in only to see what a nuisance cyclists are on the road.

Nic White the rider from Medscheme that won the Momentum, has started a group called Right2Ride, and I have become involved so that awareness can be promoted. There are riders been knocked off cycles everyday, and we dont hear about any of them, so here is a forum to have our voices heard.
