For those who don't know about it, there is quite a nice little app called Endomondo for BB (and I think there is an iPhone version too).

Basically plots your route via GPS and uploads it to the Endomondo.com site...

Also provides you with Distance, Duration, Ave speed, Slowest and Fastest km on route.

For those that dont know, hubbers can be quite rude when someone tries to share something interesting.

Agreed. My mistake. Ease up on the coffee, dude.

Can I highjack here briefly? If I bought a Blackberry, would that mean I wouldn't need to get a Garmin to have more or less the same functionality?

More or less, yes.

BUT... Endomondo chows battery life like a bugger(I can log about 4 hours with my fully charged Samsung). and a Garmin adds HR functionality and some other interesting stats too.

Depends on what you want?

Cadence - No

Heart Rate - No

Spilts - No

It will record altitude, speed, ave speed, distance and a route of where you have been.

Oh and dependent on you smart phone - battery life isnt great while using these apps. (BB seems to do ok)

Just not sure how accurate the speed function is though???

This is from the Jacaranda Satellite Classic.

Definitely don't remember pulling that maximum speed out the bag....

Hmmm ... decisions. I'm just thinking that saving + R2 500 is not to be sniffed at; I could happily buy an extra battery for the phone and I'd still be tracking more than i can get with an average bike computer. I guess the only difficulty is attaching the phone to the handlebars <_<

if you stop half way through a ride to change batteries, it will be recorded as two separate workouts.

Endomondo offers live tracking, which means that you will also be connected to the net while busy riding, taking even more battery power.

Sporty Pal - allows you to record the workout and then upload to the web. Which I prefer.

Both programs have some pros and cons - check them out
