Just goes to show how difficult the course was and the level of competition

seems he was fuelled by angro. some post-race quotes:

- "I feel angry.
"I was angry at the start of the race and I am angry now about the allegations made against me.
"I will not let anyone damage my career after all the sacrifices I have made.
"This year we have learned in cycling that he who makes a mistake must suffer the consequences and so some people outside the sport will discover that is also true."

- "Somehow we are able to transform pressure into a real desire to win. In difficult situation we get the best out of ourselves,"

ps good weekend for italy, just read that marta bastianelli was a surprise winner in the womens race.

Not sure that Bettini winning is good for cycling.  As much as the riders whine and complain about their rights being violated, they are primarily responsible for the state of the sport, and need to take responsibility to bring back cycling credibility.  If Bettini has nothing to hide or fear then he has no reason not to sign the "declaration for a new cycling".  The press in Germany and France are going to crucify him and rightly so.

Crap.

All the riders are on drugs and they all have something to hide. He beat riders doing exactly the same as what he was doing.

Stop living in a dream world. lance won 7 tours all with drugs and people still think he was good for the sport.

here's what Pat mcquaid had to say:
"Veni, vidi, vici. A rider who can win under the pressure he's been under deserves nothing but the highest praise. He's a classic, magnificent rider."

Naah Holly Roller, I just think credit must be given where it is deserved.

I am not convinced about any of these riders credibility but you have to hand it to Bettini. He has now won 2 champs ina  row. He also has never been caught so he must be presumed innocent.
