Ok I know I am the moaner of all times but when I experience races like the one yesterday there is little that can make it better besides whining.

So I don't really care bout the registration and what not. What I do care about is the start. So mountainbiking has grown tremendously and it seems it's considered more family friendly than rd cycling. I saw guys stay back to start with their wives/girlfriends at the Spring Classic, so it seems it's like a couples sport.

We probably have discussed this before but WHY oh WHY do people that cannot ride insist on standing on the front??? Not even 2km later and you have to pass them. Can there be some sort of seeding at these races?

I am trying so so hard to do well but I seem to miss the really good times as I have no clue who my competition is. You know the people that you pass but have no clue who is up front and you might not be pushing your hardest. And yes I'll probably get some smart remarks like "get to the start earlier" but like yesterday for example it was just not possible with the bloody que for some sticker that didn't even matter at the end.

I must say though.....thanx to Sterling for the cool shirts (forgot to mention it on the other thread)

I agree that some sort of seeded start groups need to be introduced and if I'm not mistaken moves are afoot to introduce this in the not too distant future.

Oh, in the meantime, get to the start earlier Wink

Did somebody mention you should get to the start line a bit earlier ? I told you to stick with me I will make you famous . Yesterday some MacClain dude pushed infront of me and I warned his that when I catch him on the route he willmeet with my elbow . Seems he got such a skrik that he stayed ahead of me and won the race !

Why not push your hardest regardless of who is upfront? Get a substantial lead and then maintain it.

Couldn't agree more every body was pushing over the start while the leaders were bailing into the sunset.   Then on the single track you get stuck behind a fatty who only just manages to fit between the trees and then you have to pass , or you leavethe track and try to pass left or right on a no road.  When you get to a crossing everybody decides to stop and have a chat show while you are riding for a position NOT GOOD at all

Who was the photographer at the race ???????????

My first MTB race with a good position so I would like to order photos

What I'm trying to get across is that instead of always trying to catch people, why don't you let them try catch you for a change?

it's not only me...
a few people complained bout it yesterday.....the leaders get up ahead and there is no way to jump over all the fat okes in a timely fashion so that you can  catch up

I have started up ahead before and believe me it makes all the difference in the world.....but I am also not rude (at races that is.....rudeness is like a natural thing for me being european and all otherwise :)) so I am not gonna tell some big guy I think he will die on the first climb so why doesn't he  move to the back....

Just because a person is fat doesn't make him/her slow. I've seen some really skinny people battle to ride even 1km.

Sure fitness isn't determined by the shape of a person but this isn't the point here. If they were faster they wouldn't come in the way, same as skinny people

Similar as someone not believing I can be stronger than them just because I am a girl

At the end of the day whomever trains harder becomes stronger and produces better results. The point here is if you cannot produce good results stay at the back.....fat, skinny, old or young

Believe me I got plenty of examples for any one of those that kick my @ss ....
