......last week I had two tubes leak on that rubber join where the valve is sealed into the tube, they were both fairly new although I had patched both once, however not in the area of the join.

Now today I rode this morning and saw now my tyre was flat, so I just pulled it off and sure as s**t the tube is leaking around the valve join, and this is a new tube.

I cant see any sharp bits sticking up where the valve go's through the rim (okay my eyes are not great, but I did put my specs on  ) so why am I getting issues here.?

Is there anything to look for or is it just the c**p brand of tube my LBS is selling me maybe.??

This used to happen to me about two years ago. I added another rim tape and have not had the same problem since. The tyres fit very tight now though.

Hmm, yeah, I though of changing the rim tape, but on closer inspection I saw its not tape (sticky stuff in the conventional sense) its a sort of strapping ring which fits fairly tightly, I think I'll have to cut it to get it off.

....but maybe thats the issue, I'll try I think.

It is not your fault and very seldom an installation fault. It is a common production problem at tube companies. Make your voice thick and insist on a replacement. Tube distributors know of this problem but pretend they don't.

Check how you pump the tyre....excesssive movement/strain round the valve area while pumpin'

OK, would you be prepared to demonstrate to us how you can make a valve separate from its tube by pumping any which way you like? I think if you go to your garage and quickly try to do this you'll find it impossible to do without damaging the pump and rim.

Yeah, I suspected as much, I bought 6 of these tubes and so far three have leaked at the valve join.

I am actually gonna go and complain, they dont call me Grumpy for nothing.
