I have used these guys twice to buy two sets of Rudy's and some casual glasses. They are TOP. Delivered to your door in 7 days (cant be a postal address). If you budy Rudy's then the shipping is free.

 

They have a dedicated SA person who looks after local orders, and when they found out that the colour of Rudy Exowinds where out of stock, i was offered a full refund or option of a different colour. Chose the other colour

 

No import duties as delivered by courier.

 

Think my Rudy projects were R822 landed cost at my door. Here they retail at R2k.

 

These guys are as good as CRC, maybe better.

These guys (also trading as Visiondirect) is a big problem (and I am sure for many other brands). They operate from the East and are not supplied by any Rudy distributor or by head office (draw you own conclusions). We can also cannot confirm that their products are not fakes (a big problem).

 

They list almost every single product Rudy ever made on their site and trust me no operator like this could keep all that stock (which means they try and source those 'less popular' items after receiving your order.

 

The biggest problem is that they do not supply - we have dealt with at least 10 cases (in SA) this year of guys ordering stock and never receiving it - just search the web for example of complaints (just found this link now: http://www.epinions.com/pr-Online_Stores_Services-SmartBuy_Glasses/display_~reviews). Getting your money back is also a problem - they will try and talk you into something else if they can't get it.

 

Remember the simple rule: 'if something is too good to be true it probably isn't'

 

There are plenty of online grey channels to buy Rudy from - unfortunately we do not support a lot of them but at least the products are geniune (CWC, CRC, etc). We (ag) accept the challenge these legitimate guys put out there ito price and service so please do not read this as an attempt to keep you from a good deal - these guys (Smartbuyglasses) are not too be trusted based on experience and chances are you going to lose money.

 

You will also find the following warning on most official Rudy Project sites accross the globe (this one copied from RUDY Australia)

 

We would love to meet the 'local guy' from Smartbuyglasses dealing with Rudy orders to pass on all those complaints we've received.

It has come to our attention and we have verified from our own experience that these two companies say they have Rudy’s for sale at a discount but they don’t. They will happily except your money via credit card upon you placing your order then will try and search for these products. In most cases they don't deliver and a simple extract from one of their Facebook accounts states the following -

 

WHERE ARE MY GLASSES??? Have been waiting over a month you have said you are sorry about delays, but do you actually intend to deliver? or is this the reason you are so hard to contact?!I cant believe i have to come to facebook to send you a message!Tell me what I want to here or give me my money back.

 

From our experience we ordered one sunglass and 5 weeks later we had still not received it plus they tried to palm us off to another brand. They are not being supplied by Rudy Project International or by any Rudy Project Distributor throughout the world. For warranty issues Rudy Project Australia will not action any warranties that have been purchased through these web sites. So in the spirit of offering you the best service we want to advise you to visit one of our dealers that are listed or purchase within erudy for 100% satisfaction and delivery within 5-7 working days and in most cases 2-3 working days.

Hmm, I have a question, why is there no physical address on the website for the local SA contact or at least a local number?. It seems calls are directed through to foreign call centres as well.

 

Companies that operate locally without a valid local traceable address and local telephone details raise scepticism and doubt, e-mail contact is fine if there are traceable details as well, but personally I think this kind of business model is suspect.

There is a thread here where ASG says Rudy Project do not supply smartbuyglasses.

 

The supplier is not a concern of mine, I personally dont care where they buy their glasses, I just do not find the business model of smartbuyglasses transparent, and for me that's an issue.

 

When a local agent is involved as it appears here, I want to see local traceable addresses and local telephone numbers, if not, to me anyway, its not a transparent business model, and not advisable to do business with.

Indeed, companies with nothing to hide operate openly and in the public eye with verifiable names, traceable addresses and telephonic contact details which are operational during business hours for that country.

 

I see nothing like that with Smartbuyglasses.

Ok guys, I know why their Rudy Project glasses are so cheap!!!

Most of them are 2009 models.

This means they could've bought them all after the new ones were released.

 

Don't know about all the other brands, but some of the Adidas' are 2008's.
