Was a bit peeved to see no recognition to the riders who did the 30km MTB ride on saturday!!! My better half would have been in the prizes for the first time but....there was no prize giving. Surely the new riders also need some encouragement to stay in the sport. PS.. before anyone corrects me the distance was 30kms not the 25 advertised!

That is why there should be prizes for the top 3, not the bottom 3.

Heck, take the only the 'ultra distances are allowed prizes' ,could everybody who ever received a prize in a single stage cycling event of less than 600km please return those to the organisers?

You need to ready fine print as it did state that distance could vary 5km either way. This is to be expected consirdering the terrain changing daily due to construction.

If you're doing that distance and looking for recognition then best you find another sport... it's called a fun ride (all three distances).

Well put

Just to check, Usain bolt is cr@p cos he runs 100m and not a marathon??? Why is further better? What are we so insecure that we have to ride a 50km mtb to be a good rider. Like I said in one of my previous posts try racing the top juniors in the 25/30km races and see if the racing is so soft.

So how would you feel if I stepped up at every 10km race blitzed the competition and demanded equal prize money?

10 and 25km races are development races for the 50km - thats how the system works.

If there were 1,000m and 3,000m mountain bike sprint races I might agree with you but the 10km and 25km races were introduced to cater for spouses/children who weren't up to the rigors of the full "marathon".

The juniors are, of course, an exception.
