Sorry if I didn't say hi WW.

My first excuse is, I'm an introvert, so it's not my fault I stick to my own thoughts  and excuse number 2 is basically the same as the topic of this thread; I did try to give a word of encouragement here or make a comment there but the only sounds that came out of F bunch was "Watchit!, oohh!, WOW!" when dodging water bottles or red & white straw bails.

But those are just excuses, so next time I'll be the oke saying "howsit" to everyone in the starting pen

BTW, you didn't have a BIG plaster on your left leg, did you?

Nope, I was in TCS kit.

Tried talking to a few people but they weren't very interested.

Maybe it's me

Maybe the ladies racing is just too relaxed!

Not saying that they guys should not be polite and not chat in the start blocks.

But if ladies riding in the open groups ride faster than the racing ladies, how serious were they racing?

Well, at least its a good indication these ladies have potential.

2 years after Jo won the Open category she won the Elite race.

Don't forget these guys in F are prepping for the Funrider World Champs!

The one Jose Cuervo rider (don't know his name) puts his rubbish in Jay's pocket.

Hmmm, something going on between Cuervo and the Lab? The two in my pic are also getting pretty close

Sooo, what is up with you guys in the open seeded bunches.

I normally race with the ladies but due to having a 5 month old little girl...am now VERY unfit. So decided to go do the 94.7 in the seeded bunches and got a start time in F bunch.

You guys are more flippen serious than the racing ladies. Standing in the pen waiting to start you would swear we were at a funeral not a cycle race. Everyone was sooo serious.

At least the ladies have a chat in the bunch and then when the racing starts it gets a little more serious. Funny enough you guys seem to be the opposite. Talk to no one in the pen and then when the racing starts at least halfway through I can actually get someone to chat to and they reply normally.

Found that very weird...you guys need to learn to chill out a bit.

OH and btw, thanks for the help I did get from the F bunch, as I said, once the race started you were actually all quite cool...

Maybe it's just nerves???

Us guys only say 3000 words a day so we dont like to start too early, dont want to run out (have to answer the wife at the end of the day). On the other hand a female to get through her 10 000 has to start early.

Hey Pleghm

How did your missus do? Loved that victory of hers.

She did much better than expected but dissapointed in the end with 7th.

She picked up a tummy bug a day before race day (African Champs) in Rwanda - she did poorly in that race (felt weak and almost passed out) and she struggled to rid the bug when back in SA. Only on Saturday was she able to eat properly again without major stomach cramps - so she didn't expect to play any role of importance and was committed to support the team.

She was in a 4-lady break away 50km in the race with Marissa, Cherise and Linn - but Marissa wasn't confident she could pull it off and slowed the break down so 4 more ladies (incl. 2 MTN) joined with 20km to go.

Near the end she took a gel and that made her feel dizzy and at that point an attack went and she couldn't respond immediately. She tried hard to bring Anriette back to the front but going into the last corner Linn nearly crashed and they had to brake hard and thus gone was their chance to get close to the front runners.

She gave it her all to defend her title...

Now she needs to put in 10-11 hr a day at work to catch up!

Thanks for the support!!

I think it helps a lot that it's pretty much the same folks in the bunch at every race. It was certainly more fun than listening to Joffers.

And then this happened:
