bored girl Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 So for the last 2 weeks or so I wondered which one to go with. I purchased the Fizik Vitesse (309g) as I didn't see how a white saddle would go on my MTB plus it was way cheaper.... In my hunt I was told (and never mind measured for one) that the Specialized Jet is the bomb.....Do sales people speak the truth or do they make up stories bout their girlfriends loving a specific ladies item??? I wonder... 3rd Option was the Selle Italia but that fell a bit out of my budget for the moment. So do the ladies out there ride with ladies specific saddles? A mate and I tried to remember what saddles the ladies we know ride with but no success and at the end I am giving it a try with the Fizik. No ladies saddles are available to test so I went with the shop that stocks both (my 1 & 2 choices) and actually allows swapping, so if I do not like the Fizik the Specialized might get a chance....
Tumbleweed Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 i've only heard good things about the specialized ladies saddles.
AndreZA Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Is this now for the road ot MTB? For the road, you should test and see. And to be honost, this week before a race is not the time to do it. And you do need time in the saddle because you will spend 95% of the race sitting down. Ask Thug, his ass got sore the first few times. You wheels are pumped harder aswell, so you will feel alot more from behind. If it's for the MTB, does this mean you broke my saddle?
bored girl Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 my choice was made easier as the agent didn't have my "size" in the specialized and my hip bones were crying too loud for me to ignore them so....
NotSoBigBen Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 "I am Special" so I'm sure the Specialized is the better one to take!
Lilo Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I ride the Selle italia on my road and mtb, no problem!!! Know their bit expensive but is defnitaley worth the money
bored girl Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 hahaha mampara no I didn't break it....although i have worn it out a bit.... and i put the new one on the mtb and your one on the rd....if i can keep it for a bit more....So still gonna do the race on a familiar saddle..
AndreZA Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 What is your price limit anyway? My Selle Italia Trans-Am is comfortable on the MTB. I've got the leather one and they go for about R500 and the synthetic ones for about R300. And you do get a LDY one.
bored girl Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 Well my limit was about R700-750 but I bought one already - the fizik vitesse as i mentioned above. I scored that for R650.....I decided to ask the question anyway as on the other forum the pink arione went to a lady.....
Ratty Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 The specialized Dolce ladies saddle came with my road bike and I hated it because it was two wide in the middle so I ended up sitting in the wrong place. I've got the Specialized Ladies mtb saddle on my mountain bike and LOVE it. I can wear my worst pair of shorts on it and have no problems riding more than 3 hours. The Jet I haven't tried yet, but I have seen it. It looks like a really nice saddle. I'm going to buy one this week so can let you know on Monday what I think (I'm riding 92km on Saturday so that should be a good test). Generally reading up on the internet, most girls love it.

[/quote'] that's the funny thing with saddles and shoes....I think it's very personal.I love my Specialized shoes so I was suprised when I heard one of the top guys was sponsored by them and he refused to wear the shoes as it made his knees hurt. So I suppose it's the same as the saddle I am only going this route to find out if I can illiminate the irritating pain I get after a long ride with lots of climbs.
MAESTRO's Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Ladies, try out the award winning lady specific ASPIDE GLAMOUR range of saddles from Selle San Marco. SSM uses a S.I.Z.E chart which basically means there is an optimal saddle out there for you. Check out their web site and download their catalogue. www.sellesanmarco.com or e-mail info@maestroimports.co.za
Ratty Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 The mens shoes come out with different inner soles etc so that you can adjust them to suit you which could stop his knee pain! I also love mine.Saddles are so personal. At least having one really comfortable saddle I can compare others to it and make sure they are the same shape / width.
MAESTRO's Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Bored girl,I can tell you with good authority that the ENTIRE Quickstep team, including Bettini and Boonen refused to ride Specialized saddles this season. That tells you something.
