yip, backpack + bladder.

if you freeze half of the bottle solid, it should be ok for a ride, you might need to take two to alternate though.

I've seen bottles that have a "stick" in the middle that can be frozen and then should keep the water cold.

I fill my bottles 1/2 to 3/4 with water then put them in the freezer, before I go ride I just top it up with water and I have cold water for longer.

How do you semi freeze it without freezing the pipe? The pipe is first to freeze

Nope I freeze the whole thing one time....I just make sure the pipe doesnt have water in it by blowing hard and then cutting air with the yellow thingy. Also arrange bladder so that most of the pipe sits higher than the outlet on the bladder...sort of like Z, never had issues

The Camelbak Podium bottle is awesome, keeps your energy drink cold for a 3 hour race/ride, no problem. Don't freeze the contents, rather just add ice cubes. I once froze my Camelbak bottle before a race, then discovered that the bottle works so well, that it kept the contents frozen for almost the entire race!

Look, to cover their own backsides I dont think camelbak endorses freezing the bladder with water in it, some okes might just fill it to the brim and put it in the freezer...pop, who knows. Mine is still going strong after a year and I freeze it every time, and even if it goes, I would still freeze water in the new bladder. Ice cold water at the top of the concrete slabs at van gaalens...priceless
