Got a new old bike and it has this very anoying clicking sound, so with the seatpost already at it's limit I replaced it with a longer one from my other bike and I'm using a shim to get the diameter right. Sound not gone.

This only happens while sitting. I have standed on the top tube while riding to see if it is the rear shock links or something, but then the sound is gone. I have applied carbon paste between the shim and the frame as the seatpost-shim wasn't a complete fit.

What's making the noise? SOunds like something is going to brake

How about the saddle rails. Dis you put grease in the clamp where it clamps the rails? Are the bolts torqued correctly? Add a few drop of oil in the cavities where the rails go into the saddle shell.

Grease every contact surface on the seat clamp. It'll save your sanity!

Try this one first I think - you don't need to remove anything - pop bike upside down and run a few drops down. It has caught me out a few times.

Best of luck!
